Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I bet her network just got a little smaller.

It's kind of a weird mishmash of people, because most of the people we've connected to are other either natural and/or home birth parents. Not exclusively, but a lot. So there's this weird mix of crunchy hippies, religious types and rich people. We don't really fit with any of those groups. We're just sort of solidly working middle class, non religious and lacking in any specific agenda, besides being very into researching and getting information on things we do.

I am starting a new 2 piece with a friend of mine. Just bass and drums with an aim to sound like a blend of Lightning Bolt, Sabbath and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Noisy, doomy and mathy with a lot of Sabbathy riffs. I have been thinking a bass VI may be pretty cool for such a project.

Side project or new main project? (ie I haven;t been here since Friday, I may have missed something :))

I honestly can't imgine anyone needing more than the P2 for bass, especially in a rock/metal setting. there is no way anyone could hear the difference between it and something more expensive once everything is all mixed.

AKG is $249 here, Sennheiser is $269 but i get them direct from the supplier at a discount so i might stick with those. they seem to have a similar frequency response.

IT'S MINE!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!

I had to harass the warehouse folks to get the box upstairs in time for me to grab it before I had to leave for class. Non-original box, opened it up real quick at home before I came to class. Looks brand-spankin-new. Not even any rack rash.

Checked to make sure it was what it was supposed to be and had to book it to class. shag. I just want to plow through these exams and go home.

I'll post photos later tonight.

At work I sit right next to a TV playing CNN all day. Maybe I'm young and naive, but didn't CNN used to be a good news channel? Its so stupid what they talk about and consider news these days. maybe they just need to fill time, but literally even if that's the case there are probably a million things a minute happening that are more newsworthy.

This morning it was about these Oklahoma frat boys posting a racist song to youtube or whatever. clearly the university was embarassed, but the reaction CNN was trying to build off some dumb college kids is ridiculous. Also if the video is so "disturbing" and "morally reprehensible" why would you keep playing it CNN? Why?!

There's no such thing as "good" or "serious" news anymore, just various forms of branded infotainment.

Yup. Last week there was what seemed like an entire hour of CNN streaming and commenting on a local news camera in like Phoenix chasing two llamas...

I'm bringing my headphones from now on...

In like real good news, I solved the dilemma of my arms falling asleep in bed when I hold my tablet up to watch TV. Fashioned a bracket on my night stand to hold it at face level next to me in bed and it syncs with my bluetooth speaker.
