My experience was similar. Would never wish the guy ill will, but let's say he had a...big personality and was sometimes a lot to deal with. I also hope he's doing well, etc. I thought he was a pretty ace musician...

Lat time I saw him was when I was living in Chicago around 1994, but before that he was part of the "Tulsa Diaspora"--a group of musicians that went to Chicago for better gigs and other possibilities...

Looking for thoughts on the differences between the Faital 15PR400's and Eminence 3015's in a dually. I know there's lots of info about this elsewhere, but I'd like doomers opinions if that's cool. Price difference is no issue, just looking for the best really. Thanks! After looking through lots of these plans, I'm starting to wonder if having one built might be smarter. The thread where the guy wrecks his whole cab design from one bad calculation has me a little nervous, haha. Might have to hitup Duke for a Dually! ;)

The faitals go lower, and higher, and are smoother in the mids. The 3015's have a rise in the upper mids. Makes them sound more aggressive.

I like that they go lower, but not necessarily that they go higher. I don't really want/need lots of highs, but I realize tone controls/EQ's exist. Hrmmm...

Not highs like a tweeter. My failtal bassic just seems full range to me. I can play bass or guitar through it and get back what tone flavor I throw at it from my amp and gear. Layman approved!

I went for faitals in my dually, but the bassic I acquired has the 3015. I like both, if I could have one I'd do the Faital, just cause an even clean is cool.

Though really, I bet if you switch them on me overnight I'd never know. They both can do what the other can to me, they just so happen to be perfectly setup for what I'm going for.

Yes, I do! Sorry, been a super busy week. In the studio a few more days wrapping up the ShackShakers record. I do want to pick your brain a bit on some details for these cabs just to get your take on it.

I had known Jim a very long time...I remember the Baby M thing in Tulsa, then Gringo in Chicago (I lived in Chicago most of the 90's). Jim is a good musician. Plays a lot of instruments pretty darn well.

That is a trip. I played bass in Baby M (when they were gooood, mannnn!) But was out of it well before Jim got involved.

The guy who started Baby M in Tulsa ODd and died several years back. He had been a really good friend of mine years earlier, but also a troubled, difficult person at times.

Gotta go with Bryce on this one. I've had so many 3015 and Faital Dually's sitting side by side to do a/b testing and I could happily gig either one. They are not worlds apart by any stretch. The Faital goes a little lower and a little higher, but not super high like a 3way cab would. The 3015 has a bit more of a low mid push and a small spike around 1.5k. That makes it come off a bit more aggressive. I guess the thing that gives the Faital a slight edge (for me) is that it really doesn't have any noticeable dips or peaks. Super even across its entire range. It really is splitting hairs though. Corey Young has one of each and pretty much has confirmed the same findings.

Needs to build a strangle switch on my baritone and a piezo preamp circuit for my electric reso.

I have a feeling a baritone and an open D slide based reso would meld really well on some stuff I wrote. I Need to get a friend over to play one while I play the other once the reso gets fixed to confirm. The stuff I wrote started on bass but got too busy and baritone clears it up, and adds to it.

Having the drummer in training over again later this evening, we'll see how it goes.
