Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've heard good things about the sparkle drive but never heard one in Person. I'll try to find some bass clips of both of they exist.

the SD is quite good, I used one for a very long time. You can swap the input cap for a bit more low end. The blend was a bit strange because it always sounded like two separate sounds instead of a blending of clean and dirty. But it has the typical TS mid hump and the tone control can add some nice top end.

Whelp that was one hell of a amazeballs weekend...GH mini tour went on without a single hitch basically. PVYWagon hauled PVYHenge and drums, and me and my drummer pretty snuggly packed, but it fit. I retain my master of amp tetris mastery degree. We did run into some snow on the way home and had to scrap a sheet of ice off the front faceing side of the cab that was on the roof, but Peaveys tolex is indestructable, its all good. Singing went fine from what people were saying, and no real anxiety or nervousness about it, just get up and do it, so thats awesome. Now I need to start working on the vocals of the other songs. Turnout on Thursday in Madtown trumped Iowa as a whole tenfold because I guess its spring break and Joan Jett was in town the same nights, but that doesnt matter because we still made a decent small chunk of change to put towards PVYHenge shirts. The only problems we had were some technical difficulties because I kept vibrating the power strip that powered everything out of the socket. MDT is some great dudes and stellar rockers. @Pelham Bleu has a collection of fuzz that makes me peanut butter and jealous. They brought their fog machine on saturday and we filled this place with smoke like in those sunn O))) plays in a church videos, at one point I couldnt see my drummer who was like 5ft away. The PVYHenge me and Matt assembled was tonal nirvana and SS Peavey heaven. All silver stripe cabs totalling 618s + 410s. 2 Vulcans, 2 Festivals, Tuxedo bass 300.

Heres some pics...more on the GH facederp page.

Spring in the woods. Found an awesome park with a friend. Front is totally meh, then really weird then meh, then keep going and boom crazy forests for miles and miles. Shame I can't post the panoramic.

No filters on the first one for reference.

On Saturday GH made a nature stop at a state park. Caught up on some ZZzzzs in my hammock swaying in the breeze from getting less than 10 hrs of sleep over the prior 48 hours.

Big cabs, big tones, good times & some SERIOUS tetris in that PVYwagon.

You're making me homesick for eastern Iowa. Wish I could have been there at Gabe's; I saw Melvins and the Jesus Lizard and Godheadsilo and all kinds of locals there back in the mid-90's, but I've never rocked that stage myself.

Now that it's late march in AZ and I can't walk to lunch without breaking a sweat, a cool nap in a hammock sounds good to me.

Whereabouts in E. IA are you from? Maybe you posted before & I just forgot.

Well, if it makes you feel any better that state park is probably covered with a foot of snow now.

I'll halfheartedly argue against you, stating that you want access to those controls. Taking the case off to tweak midrange is a PITA, and the missing control is a midrange suck you'd never use anyway. :)
Yeah, I keep waffling. I thought voice affected the other midrange control, but who knows. I just picked up a Joyo American, so we'll see what happens. I probably SHOULDN'T buy more stuff, but that's never been too much of an issue before...

Des Moines is 207,000 people. And it's the biggest city by population in Iowa.

Denton (where I am) is 123,000 people. And it's the 26th biggest in Texas by population.

The DFW metroplex I am a part of is 6.5 million people. Iowa as a state has 3.1 million! No wonder my craigslist is so flush, that's a ton of people for one site.

Sorry got consumed by population comparisons out of curiosity.
