I wouldn't worry about it, there's not much On Topic discussion going on, we're kind of all over the place. We're glad you're here, feel free to rant/ramble/preach/whatever. They's a LOT of stuff that turns me on. I will admit, hearing a full grown man wail like a little girl is one of them.
I suppose I should be ashamed of that, but I'm not.

Hey, I need some advice from you guys.
I recently got more into drone/sludge like Conan and Bongripper from traditional stoner stuff.
However, with my regular .40-.95 strings, they all become floppy rubber strings when I try to tune down to A. Also given the fact that my actions are kinda low, string buzz is crazy.
What kinda gauges do you guys normally use?

This is exactly what I've done in the past.
The Janitor (as per usual) is also right about a setup.
Also take note of the nut slots, as the above suggestion involves thicker gauges.
So about setup... all I gotta do is maybe raising the action? or do i also have to file my nut a little bit? (damn, that sounds wrong in every sense)
Hey If you do widen the nur slots will it negatively effect things if you go back to traditional string gauges?
This is what I'm kinda worried about too because I still enjoy playing Motorhead stuff on my bass.
Well, it's not a completely non-reversible thing. I've filled nut slots too, with a mixture of powderized plastic and glue, various things. That's not as optimal as just having a good nut from decent material fabricated or worked on to fit your regular gauge nicely, but it works.
But yeah, if he moves from say a 105 to a 135 gauge on the E (for example), he may well need to finesse the nut (you're right--that DOES sound wrong) so the slot will accept the thicker gauge and not just sit on top of the nut or have to be forced in.
But if you then go back to a 105, the slot may be TOO wide, then zombies eat your face and the universe collapses back into itself forming a singularity.

Good question, I've never gone back to a thinner gauge after tuning a bass down that far.
Play it one string higher?
I would look at the action, but you might want to give the truss rod a short twist. Higher gauges can = higher tension.
Ummm...what kind of bass are we talking about anyway? Don't be shy--one of my two basses is a $125 pawn shop "Lotus."
