Hmm.... I would have to measure my nut slot for my bottom string first before I even try doing mediocre filling job.

But what if I get Heavy Gauge? 55-110. Of course, it ain't as thick as 5 strings but at least it might fit into my current nut slots. Has anyone tried playing in A with Heavy Gauge instead of 5 strings?

I use 110s for c# and b on a 4 string and it works pretty well. might be too loose for A though.

I play drop A sharp with 110s, so its quite doable, but I like a wet noodle for a string.

Dot style paint, using spouncers and q tips. Theme of pink lotus and the evil eye.

First coat on, may my art come out nice for one. Let's see.

That is a difference I can appreciate.

I like the sound and feel of floppy and tight. So that's my excuse for having two short scale and two long scake basses. So I can have taut and flop in both standard and B tuning.

i just came up with a pretty crazy board plan, drawn up crudely like an insane person would (complete with symbols) in MS paint.. would anyone like to see the inner workings of my mind?

it allows me to use my parallel bass signal, bounce it down into a RAT King, crybaby mini, tuner and RE-20 in mono. the LS-2's switching also allows me to use a Grendel Drone Commander straight through the RAT King, crybaby and RE-20. the tu-2 on-but-bypassed is there to allow me to make sure the synth is in key.

Oh hell, man. Dunno how old you are, but BOTH "Zen Arcade" and Minutmen's "Double Nickels On The Dime" came out the Summer of '84, about two months before I turned 16.

I was already into both bands and I begged my mom to take me to Starship Records in Tulsa (cool old shop--one blue house with yellow trim that was a head shop, one yellow house with blue trim next door that was a record store) to pick up both double albums. I guess I had my driving permit but still had to have an adult driver in the car with me or something...

Anyways, I recall it was raining like hell. My mom waited in the car while I popped in, grabbed both double albums and, for good measure, I also picked up "My War" by Black Flag which I had a taped copy of but wanted on vinyl. What a haul.

I kinda feel bad for younger music fans who maybe haven't had the same experience of hearing about music by word of mouth or xeroxed old ragazines, finding them in a record store stacks, getting them home...the big artwork, the smell of new vinyl...it's cool that today you can pull up just about anything--no matter how obscure--on a music blog or YouTube or any other number of methods, but I think some little pleasures got lost too.

I had that "epic" experience with Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, which should have been on my five. When I got home not only was there a full size double sided poster inside, but the vinyl was clear blue. Big deal for a little loser like me at the time. Not only that, the songs kicked ass.

Filing may be best, but I've just used the new thicker string like dental floss to widen the groove some, as I don't have micro files. If you're not familiar with dental floss, it's a back and forth motion across the nut, with slightly more pressure on the head stock side to angle the groove you're cutting just a bit.

heh heh because of the lack of pedals on pedalboardplanner it is actually just a placeholder for the new Crybaby Mini which has the same footprint as a boss pedal.

YMMV, but I play in B with a .125 on my 4 string. No nut adjustment needed.
You could always buy a new nut down the road...

I also thought about FFFRV. Such a good record. Also DFL - Proud to be. Great hardcore when most "hardcore" bands were playing metal core. Music just does it for me. I could go on and on about bands I love.

DKs related - this is why it sucks to live in New Zealand sometimes. i think the current system of rights being held per country for music is archaic in the age of the internet.
