Don't forget to ditch the Wayfarers and fedora!
Fugg dat, Wayfarers are awesome.
But are they AS awesome with cargo shorts, a bowling shirt and a fedora?
(THE best outfit if you are playing either "Long Run" by The Eagles, "After Midnight" by Clapton, or any Bob Seger material.)
Why not tune A standard and then you got C standard at the 3rd fret?
If you're handy enough to mod the cap, you can probably build a kit. I've been eyeing this one for a while-So, if someone was to mod/build/buy a DOD 250, what would be the best option for bass? I hear the '77 DOD is a bit more mid-focused than the others. I'm thinking of buying a GGG clone, then modding the input cap so it doesn't lose any low end. Any input/experience?
Man few things annoy me more than perfectly glorious-sounding guitar amps with cheap multi-FX units thrown in front. Lots of things sound good into a JCM800. Most overdrives sound great into the hi input, heck a $30 c-list Boss SD-1 would sound great. Even an EQ pedal boosting select mid freqs can sound awesome.Back to elementary school for me - Had a post up about tuning but I think I had part of wrong.
Anyway, I'm gonna get some big-ass strings that are designed for drop tuning and tune the 5-string to ACGCF. That should cover me for both tunings that the guitar players want to do - I can ride the open C and still play the drop A stuff with minimal transposing.
I'm resisting the urge to buy guitar player #1 a tuner. Kind of a dick move but it's sorely needed.
I also want to let him use my Rat - he's got a JCM800 but he's plugging an early 90's vintage multi-fx into it for dirt. LM308 Rat > JCM800 would be godly. Don't want to be a dick about it though. Ugh. His setup doesn't sound bad, but it could sound amazing. I'm not using the Rat, hell even the OD Glove would probably be awesome going into that Marshall.
Rip the Eagles and Clapton all you want but leave Bob Seger out of this!!!!But are they AS awesome with cargo shorts, a bowling shirt and a fedora?

That's another option for sure - i'll mess around with it this weekend and on Monday at practice. I like the idea of having the open C, but it may not matter that much.
I hope you don't work with Askrere, I hear he makes locked doors his bitches. Thanks everyone! Code silver is lockdown. Code green is violent behavior. Everything is locked up where I am at. The dude would have to come through three locked doors to get to me.

I would be dork enough to slap a big enough capo on bass to give me open C galloping notes lol. With or without capo you have the Chinese algebra problem of always playing three notes over from where he is playing and that would probably make my head spin.
Yeah - that's kind of the issue I'm trying to minimize. We're all still doing a lot of hand watching so it would get confusing fast. As we continue to gel I think it'll be much less of an issue. Maybe we can convince guitar player #1 to ditch the drop A shenanigans as well.
Yeah that wacky tuning crap would drive me nuts. I helped a dude out on acoustic gig at one of those new age churches(his sister-in-law was hot and I was hoping to hit it, sell out on my part) one time on a last minute thing like three days before his gig and on stage right before play time he said move your capo over one on all the fake sheets I gave you as I am tuned Eb standard. Only effed up one song but, ARGH!!! Never got the sister and never returned any of his calls...
