Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Finally got the action straight on the Jazzguarbird, the bridge was fine, neck needed to be shimmed. Man that is some trial and error, strings off, neck off, add two shims, strings back on, neck back on, repeat, repeat, etc. Now I need to glue in about a 1/4" shim inside the bridge pickup route to get it to the same height as the neck pup. Hard-mounted pickups and dealing with those tiny pickup screws are a pain in the arse.

Do you guys reckon a clean blend is totally necessary for a fuzz?

Celebrating beating teen pregnancy today and thought I might spring for a better fuzz than my BM pi

personally I don't like clean blends in general. if a pedal doesn't sound good without it then I don't bother. Also I find if there is some low end loss you can compensate by increasing the volume when the pedal is engaged and to me that generally sounds better than a clean blend.

I like to run the BDPG or VT in front of a fuzz with clean blend to get some real filthy tones. Did this recently with a BDPG > Brown Dog and it sounded very rude.

We've discussed it before here, but I got to say it really bothers me when bands ask for money over and over.

My friends are trying to go on tour and record and keep asking for money every place and way they can. If sales and merch made that money or you funded it yourself cool, but expecting others to pay so you don't have to is pretty uncool and so is repeatedly spamming social media to ask.

This whole crowdfunding trend bothers me. It sucks that we're in a country where it's so difficult for bands playing original music, but the answer isn't to beg your friends and fans for money. You burn up a lot of goodwill doing that. Play shows, sell merch, dip into your pockets to fund some band expenses, don't beg for money on social media.

already posted above, but everything here:

stereo cable from the TRS out on the rick, split out to two mono jacks at the end

neck -> bluebeard -> LS-2
bridge -> cthulhu -> LS-2
LS-2 -> tuner -> RAT King

ADAM is powering everything, no noise from the board itself.

the stereo cable i've had made is noisy only when i move, if i "whip" the cable it makes that classic microphonic crackle/boom. everything is dead silent if i'm standing still.

What exactly does the LS-2 do here? is it for blending the 2 sounds back together into a single signal?

Anyone kinda like a bit of low end loss sometimes? More so with VEGA, but I kinda like dubby booming lows for cleans and then a little less for the fuzz tones so it meshes with guitar more for a mono riff sound, theres still plenty of bass to be destructive and heard but its not dubby sublows anymore.

Except BRING ALL THE LOWEND for GH, havent even been able to try the Megalth with PVYHenge yet...cant wait for that.

Should be moving back in tomorrow night after we finish painting one wall. Dont know how much well play though.
