Built a couple more prototype cabs this week, which was fun. Played one short set with a brand new proto and was really encouraged by how it sounded. Went to try it out again Wednesday night and my poweramp sh!t the bed during the first song of a 4 hour set! Plugged into the house rig at the club and that head was dead...what are the odds?! Gonna take the same proto out this weekend with a rockabilly/old school country band I sometimes play for called The Eskimo Brothers. Cool guys. Playing Scottsburg, Indiana tonight and Mainville, OH tomorrow

The guitar player and I are still not on speaking terms, I was kicked out of the band (was going to quit soon anyway) but I guess it's ok to ask me for gear/help recording? I'm still friends with the drummer.

That's the logical, level headed answer.

I enjoy doing this stuff, and I want to help out a friend, but I also don't want to be a doormat or spend my free time helping out a guy that won't acknowledge my existence in public.

It's been put off for a week now anyway - I think I'll tell them to figure it out for themselves.

I totally understand, that kind of conflict has been a primary part of my personality for a loooong time. I'm slightly better about saying no to doing favors for people that are essentially working for free. Not only did it never really occur to me to say no before, it was so bad that several people screwed me over more than once before I did. I got better about it in the last year or two, now it's really easy because I don't have much free time or spare mental energy anyway.

That all sounds like something that I would do, be pissed about but do nothing to change it. So yeah, I think it's time to say no.

I'm lucky that I have access to all kinds of great gear for free or dirt cheap rental prices. This is also a bonus to people that I'm in bands with or that I'm friends with. I'm happy to share that access and what knowledge that I have, but I think it's kind of galling for someone that kicked me out of a band to turn to me for help (while still not speaking to me).

anyway - that's enough drama for one day. Band practice tonight!

Yesterday I was informed that my painted pine P bass body is shipping out today and my Atlas 612 guitar cab is shipping out next week. Thankfully selling the Dunwich preamp recently covered the rest of the payment for the cab. I had that saved up in my PayPal balance a long time ago, but had to take about half of it out a couple months ago.

I know I've been in the Pro Audio realm for a long time when you mention Atlas cabs and all I can think of is Atlas Sound:
