What kind of tone did the bassist have?
he had a set neck old school active yamaha bb bass
the tone was deep and focused, i'd say really punchy

Just pulled up to the practice spot to jam with old drummers other band for the first time. No idea how it's going to go.
usual LA sunday morning, everybody is at brunch or hungover, hopefully we'll get our stuff together and get to the studio eventually
Which finish?
Natural has been $300-350 lately. Really should be under $300, but whatever.
The two different bursts go for $500-600.
Painted ones fall in between.
White and I missed on it. Friend at a store called me then the guy didn't sell to the store. Got to watch craigslist like a hawk now
Worth it. I paid a little more than the above prices, but I needed dat RW. I like maple, but I LOVE RW.

Job st spent 20 minutes getting caught up on this thread. I love the fact that you can never get busted for going off topic, since there is no topic! Also, no bickering about minutiae that usually matters so little anyway
Practicing all day to sit in with a band that flew in from Holland without their bass player (his visa was denied). I had about 4 hours to go over 26 songs, do a quick rehearsal then play a two hour set last night. Doing it again tonight with them. They're a rowdy bluegrass kinda thing. I more or less suck at bluegrass but they like lots of upright slapping and I'm pretty good at that. So starting last night I'll play 9 gigs in 7 days this week. Awesome and awful at the same time!
Was so planning on getting a couple more proto cabs built, but that probably won't happen this week

I have a hankerin' for a white bass as well. Was thinking about a white/white LB100 or on the more cheap side, a bass VI in a similar style.
Well sh*t that was actually pretty cool. Learned 3 songs, pretty straight forward heavy rock with bluesy/stonerly leanings. No singer present, but hopefully he'll be there next time. Motto of the band could be zero shags given, but that would be selling it short. Zero pressure, just learn songs and start playing shows. Works for me.
Lugged the 2-pro to the rehearsal spot, requested an 8x10, which i got along with an SVT-2 non pro. I wanted to try mine with an ampeg 8x10 so i plugged it in. It was ok, not really that much louder than my cabs. I think this is one of the "dark years" cabs, because it was dark and muddy. Found myself adding treble, which i almost never do. At any rate, I'll look for chances to try it with other 8x10s, but i don't think I'm missing out using own cabs.

Also, the Bazz kills and i found some ungodly dirty and heavy sounds with the bass big muff - the 10 band eq on the amp works well for tweaking that pedal. OD glove is cutting too much low end, might put it up for sale. Could possibly help fund the new mxr/fuzzrocious bass rat.
Speaking of boutique/big name builder collaborations, my buddy (and I, by proxy) are anxiously awaiting the DOD/Black Arts Toneworks Boneshaker. Apparently, even though he preordered it, they're still on back order for another two weeks. We think maybe GC didn't give them the number of preorders 'til too late, because he preordered nearly instantly. But the "smart" GC pedal guy (same one I mentioned a few days ago) said each store was only allotted ten units. Freaking crazy. That thing was supposed to be out to the public a month ago and they keep pushing back the release. Not that it's been delayed as other things, but as we all know, GAS is tough to live with!
Somebody should buy this thing.

You're a machine!!! Speaking of cabs quick question, can you swap a 3015 for a 15pr400 in a bassic. Been thinking of maybe trying that speaker in the cab you built for me.
the lady drummer showed up at my place hungry and in need of coffee, never figured out what happened to the other two, they must have started drinking at like 1030am or something, oh well, at least i started learning a stevie wonder song and an orange goblin song today
