Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Sounds like you geezers need to start filling out your wills before you all collapse in a heap... Remember me when you do.

Ha! Man, don't know how old you are but I can tell you--aging sucks. I recommend you avoid it if at all possible.

All those scrapes and tumbles and muscle-pulls and bone-breaks, not to mention the stupid, sh!tty way I treated my body in general up into my 30s, being reckless with drug and drink and lack of sleep and what-not, has ALL come back to bite me in the @ss. Somedays it's like I feel every pain I ever felt in my life cumulatively and simultaneously.

I wish I had something cool left to leave someone when I kick it.

I can put you down for the old Lotus P copy...it weighs about 30 pounds though I think...

Re: pain. I busted my lower back by mostly sitting and working for the last 5 years. I have to watch while lifting heavier things or I spend next week in bed not able to move. I changed my lifestyle some time ago, started to exercise more etc, but last week I overstretched some tendon in my back and foot while stretching after a 3 mile run and off to the pain city I go :D It's going away now, but I really have to watch out.

Also, Southern Lord opened a European internet store at last. Bought the first High on Fire reissue on double clear vinyl. Those little things in life :)

I fell on an obstacle course in Army Basic Training. I was crossing a steel cable over a ditch and muscle failure combined with muddy leather gloves and oops I slipped off and my back landed on a rock. I didn't want to be a broke dick and go to sick call or extend my time in Basic Training so I sucked it up but after that I could throw my back out so easily. The last time I threw it out was moving a beer cooler loading up on a two-day canoe trip, that was the most brutal trip ever, I should of realized what I did but I went anyway like a dolt. Thank goodness I haven't tweaked it since.

I think there is this this button that gets hit when you hit 35 and the decay begins.

Im Polish, and my family is too stubborn to die young. My great grand parents all lived in to their late 90's, and my grand parents on on that same track. I have 60+ more years of work and toil before I keel over and you get my stuff.

When I was 23 and in grad school I would blow off steam by going to the batting cages and whaling away on 55 mph meatballs (didn't have a jam space to DOOOM, what could I do?). It was also a period of substantial weight gain. Anyway, the pitching machine broke while I was in the cage... it kept giving me freebies- it just didn't stop. "Woohoo! Free batting practice!" I thought and I gleefully hacked away for the next 20 minutes, wearing holes in my batting gloves, blistering my fingers, finally leaving with exhaustion with the machine still pitching.. oh yeah and my lower back was a bit sore..

The next day I literally COULD NOT WALK. I do believe I herniated a disc in that cage. Ever since, it's been prone to aggravation. If I tweak it, I'm hobbling for a week or more. It's especially vulnerable if I've been putting on the pounds.

I hate to admit it, but the best cure I've found is this guy:
Diamond Dallas Page

his "red hot core" workout on the first DVD is the quickest fix to the tweaked lower back I've found.

And yes, @askrere, before you mention it, those AARP discounts are sweet. They got a special on NOS carbon comp resistors and nixie tubes this week!

Askrere is some kind of child prodigy, he's like 17.

Seriously? It's hard to gauge stuff like that when you only know people from the crap they say online.

Not that Askrere spews crap...not talking about him specifically but...fuggit, you know what I'm saying.

Maybe we should all post up pics of ourselves.

???

I'd be curious to know what you lot look like. I don't usually post pics of myself or any other family members, but I feel all warm and cozy and safe here.

ME:

David.jpg

(There are about two dozen pictures total of me in existence, from the time I was born. I just don't do photos. This pic is the one and only selfie I have ever taken, shot a couple months ago to try out the camera on a new phone I got. I took this about 5 minutes after I woke up that morning. I actually had a nice, friendly expression on my face when I was ready to snap, but then I looked down to make sure I was hitting the right button and...this was the result.)

And here is my beautiful wife and the older of my two daughters. My youngest is such a private person I wouldn't feel right posting a pic of her without asking her first...

Swing away Merrill. Ouch.

I have this great morning start your day yoga stretch video and my girlfriend teased me so much about it I stopped LOL. And yes throwing the weight on hasn't done me anything positive at all LOL. Apparently if you eat the same amount of food that you did at 157 pounds @ 19 years old you can magically turn that into 245 pounds @ 43 years old.

Bryce I am leaving you my High on Fire CD

Damn. I'm 35 since January...
I gained like 15 pounds during the last 5 years and I'm quite lanky so it's not very visible, but damn, it's hard to lose that extra weight.

One of my best buddies, him and his old lady blew up over the years just like I did. One day they decided no more, exercised and eating right and he is wearing the same size jeans as he did in high school now and she is back to being that slender gorgeous tall long legged gal she was when we the were teenagers, it can be done but you got they had to make some serious life changes.

Yeah 35 sucks, the year I got my first migraine!
