Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

As promised here's the review of the Blue Paisley Drive from Danelectro: It's awesome! I've barely scratched the surface, but it's incredibly versatile. It has an odd knob called Singlecoil/Humbucker which seems to go from thin to girthy EQ-wise in addition to a standard tone. Those, coupled with the drive can make for plenty of different sounds, but it also has a mids switch. I can't find much info on the pedal itself, but it seems that the mids switch activates a baked in EQ curve as changing it definitely seems to change a lot more than the mids. I can keep identical settings and go from generic rock, scooped metal, and thin country twang. It's pretty freaking cool, really. All this is on guitar so far, but it does it a disservice to say it's a tweaked Daddy-O, since it does a whole lot more. It can get similar sounds, but also vastly more sounds than the Daddy-O. Also, the Daddy-O seems to be higher gain, and grainier distortion. The Blue Paisley is smoother. All in all, this is definitely going to replace my Daddy-O on the board, and I look forward to trying it on bass tomorrow when the neighbors/wife aren't getting ready for bed.

In other Dano news, the Black Paisley metal pedal should be here Friday. Can't wait to try it out after this one! And the Dan Echo I ordered and was told was sold prior is apparently now on its way and should arrive Monday. Should be fun! Dano board here I come!

EDIT: Anyone know where to find old Dano manuals? Would love to see what these things are actually doing when I turn them.

just got a hostile text from the tenant who trashed my desert place, stole some stuff, and didn't pay her bills, wow, you would think that she would understand that calling me a threatening manipulative liar doesn't really have any effect on me, out of touch with reality i guess

I don't think I'd dig hving properties with strangers living in it. Even paying ones.

We're good tenants, but I know people with rental properties and it sounds like it could be hell.

Place we're in now, we had to buy a fridge and stove because the owner said he'd had so many ripped off. I've never heard of that!

Decent house in a decent neighborhood too.

Hey, where in the desert are we talkin'?

I'll take care of the place for you cheap!

I left my freezer open Monday accidentally so it was all melty but cool... Ate it like a milkshake for dinner and diarrhea commenced.

I hope it was a Moth girl fleshlight!?

Hmmmm...close. It's this:

Picked my friend up from the vet he works at. Leela got a free nail clip and he expressed her anal glands.

Wow I'd seen that on dirty jobs before... But damn he snapped on a gloved, grabbed her butthole and *sppffffssshhht* like two teaspoons of nasty brown watery stuff shot out with some considerable pressure and odor.

mpdd, just re-read your post. Damn...apologize for making it a laughing matter, which it isn't.

That woman sounds disturbed. But maybe she's just a spiteful witch.

i think that a lot of people are functional drunks until they reach a certain age and then all bets are off, it doesn't bother me compared to what could have happened, i was more concerned that she wasn't going to leave

It's payday and I think I can afford to swoop some components. I was thinking of building a multi circuit with delay and verb with a switch to swap the order around BUT, I just discovered rollywow and I think I'm going to build their pharaoh clone because more fuzz.

Any other ideas? A fuzz with an octaver always sounded cool to me but playing in C, I don't know how much use it would get. I also have a couple Blue Warbler 2 boards laying around but gat dayum if the proper vactrol isn't difficult to source at a reasonable price.

Nice Greco Corey! Is that a laminate or solid body? Looks similar to my Lotus, is that considered a tobacco burst? - I like the extra bit of yellow in there.

Looks like it's been well cared for, awesome score!

There's pics of all the cavities and I don't see any laminates. Not sure about the exact color, but tobacco burst is my favorite and it seemed close to that. It looks the nicest cared for and is the only one with a case that I found on eBay over a week. Lowest price to boot. The seller has been really good so far too, super fast communication, sent me close up pics of anything I asked about, shipped it same day. I should get it around the 13th.

Lots of tracking in the basement bunker last night, lots of gated fuzz. One tracked featured just a Fuzzrocious Ram the Manparts, another featured an OC-2 into a Brown Dog. The latter was incredibly subbed out, very fun to play! Hopefully these can both go "final." Was also getting some some pseudo-Geddy filtered Moog tones for a third track; that needs a bit more arranging.

That sounds awesome! I have a Pharaoh, and it's definitely a worthy fuzz. Heck, I've been tempted to get the supreme for a while, but never really NEEDED to get it. How much for you to build me a regular Pharaoh? ;)
