Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So my resume is refinished once again and I'm out looking.

For some reason I am cool as a cucumber in pretty much any situation. This is probably the worst situation for me in terms of what I guess you would call anxiety. Anytime I am looking to do something new I get super freaked out and feel like I am completely incompetent.
Anyone else get that?

I absolutely hate it and wish I knew how to get over it. Every year of school from kinder on, every job applied and worked for I have assumed I would totally bomb. So now I'm at that point again.

It's really bad though because it's a first real job, and I feel like I'm not qualified to do anything and I'll spiral down from here.

Maybe I need some kava... Sorry to rant, I normally don't feel this way and it's terrible when I do.

I'm 34, well advanced at my place of work and doing extremely well (so I've been told) - I still feel like I'm going to be "found out" as an incompetent dumbass that somehow wandered in off the street. Sounds corny but you need to believe in yourself, you got your degree and are smart and motivated, you'll do fine. But yeah, Kava would definitely help during interviews.

So, went on tour, and nothing terrible happened.

Here's a video of our set in Eugene. Sound is kinda poopy, especially in the low frequencies, cause just camera mic, but you get the idea:

It's entirely new material we played on tour (except for the last night in Sacramento, where we did "Servitude" from All Is Sorrow as an encore).

Thanks. Part of the problem is my current internship is me working one on one with two millionaire investment guys. They really appreciate my work, and I really appreciate what I'm learning there. At the same time, they are basically aliens. The things they say and do are sometimes hilarious, yet scary that they are so out of touch with people due to the fact they have money. They also speak to me brutally honestly. Por ejemplo, they say I'm smart, but then bring up the fact that so much of the upper echelons of my field of work are headed by blood and birthright.

The other side of my degree is like advertising and copy writing and brand management. This is what got me interested in the first place, but I ended up directed down a different path so far.

So I have a field I'll have to try try try to get and stay relevant in, especially since I was not born into the 1% lifestyle you seem to need to really easily get into it. Or try to backtrack into the other field. Problem there is it's super experience and portfolio driven and aside from limited school work, I've signed NDA's so all my work is classified to an extent that limits me saying much beyond elaborating in broad strokes on this phrase "I research and help write pitch books". I can't show people my books, or tell them who they are about lol.

The $30 fender bxr100 needs input jack repair/cleaning as its intermittent, as well as a new slider for the 1.1k range.

That said wow, loud and awesome tone. I either have bad taste or all the reviews of this line are just spiteful of Late 80's fender bass gear. If I find the head version I'll be on it like white on rice.

if you're a big bongripper fan and you've come to this thread for the first time....you've missed out....
Nah, I've lurked for a long time - I know the bass player posts in here from time to time.

I just tend to keep quiet 'cause I'm not in a proper Doom band.

I'll be at that show for sure.

Unrelated, but there seem to have been a lot of thefts from bands lately. Be careful, folks.
Had my car broken into in the Mission for the 3rd time the other day. Down the street from the Mondo Drag show I was at.

Been away for a little bit. Were writing some more and getting prepped for shows that are coming our way.
Should have some merch and crap soon with the new EP recorded and ready. 8 songs of piss and vinegar.
Will try and make the Bongripper show. Depends on how it lines up with my schedule. The daughter comes first.

Six Sixty Six will be playing two shows soon.
Eli's Mile High on July 31st.
Golden Bull on August 22nd.

May have another on 7/23 but it's still not confirmed with all the members right now.
