Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Cheap MIA stereo tube rig. Still need to get the crate up and running. I'll try it with the bxr tomorrow to see if it's good in stereo with the weird boss pedal. Baritone selling Thursday and getting the HM-2 after.

Thanks. Part of the problem is my current internship is me working one on one with two millionaire investment guys. They really appreciate my work, and I really appreciate what I'm learning there. At the same time, they are basically aliens. The things they say and do are sometimes hilarious, yet scary that they are so out of touch with people due to the fact they have money. They also speak to me brutally honestly. Por ejemplo, they say I'm smart, but then bring up the fact that so much of the upper echelons of my field of work are headed by blood and birthright.

The other side of my degree is like advertising and copy writing and brand management. This is what got me interested in the first place, but I ended up directed down a different path so far.

So I have a field I'll have to try try try to get and stay relevant in, especially since I was not born into the 1% lifestyle you seem to need to really easily get into it. Or try to backtrack into the other field. Problem there is it's super experience and portfolio driven and aside from limited school work, I've signed NDA's so all my work is classified to an extent that limits me saying much beyond elaborating in broad strokes on this phrase "I research and help write pitch books". I can't show people my books, or tell them who they are about lol.

You still have a lot of time to build a career. I'd pursue the ad/copywriting/marketing side. You can ask your current employers to keep you in mind if anyone they know is looking to hire someone, but don't count on that happening. As for future interviews you can describe what you did at the internship and just use the phrase "I'm under NDA". People understand what that means and should be OK with that. Hell, they might even respect you for keeping to the NDA, it shows that you're trustworthy, even when you're looking to leave the current job. Hopefully you'll be able to get a reference from the current employers to prove that you've actually been there doing the work.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is don't sweat it too much, you're barely out of college - you've got a good practical degree and you're building experience. You shouldn't have a lot of trouble finding work.

Happy Wednesday everybody! Torche tonight, other than that I got nothing.

Dare I say I may now have my perfect board put together for GH? Ive never been happier than with this setup. Plenty of verb, before and after fuzz. That new OBN Procession IS the crazy spacy verb Ive been looking for. The verb flows into a flanger, filter, or tremolo, soooooo versatile and it kicked the TR2 off the board. All while being simple and easy to use live compared to the EHX Cathedral, which I kept hitting and changes presets on. I know Ive said this before but I think the board is going to look this this for a while.

Signal chain is as follows...
TU2 > PHASE WIZARD A)PW Boost straight in da MACE B)DOD250 > EQD Ghost Echo > Bear Amps Blu Bear-D > Bear Amps Lucifuzz > OBN Procession > DOD BiFet > F800 Booster

BUT my MACE is still in the shop for the fuse thingymabob misshap and I miss it real bad, didnt realize how much of my tone it was since I got it. That tighter higher gain destruction is BEAST when pushed hard by the Phase Wizard, its perfect for my treble stack. Once I get it back itll be FULL BEAST MODE now that I have the bassier more effect laden side of PVYHenge figured out.

Always waiting on something, PVYHenge is never complete.

I was a little hasty in flipping my ver. 1, wouldn't mind trying another one someday.
It's crossed my mind in the past, but I always felt like there was something in that box I could really use. It's gone on and off the board a few times, but it always comes back. Really, I think my current band is just too limited style-wise to use it. Hopefully when it implodes like it seems like it will soon, my next band will be more open-minded. That's all I really want. A heavy band that's open-minded to different styles of heavy.

So I bought an EHX LPB1 from ebay for peanuts. Seller said that it gets really fuzzy as you turn it up. He thinks it may be modded or may just be broken. Did a little reading and a couple people have stuck clipping diodes in them to make them fuzz pedals. So I'll check it out, if it is indeed modded I'll try my hand at making my own.

I couldn't make it through one practice with a narrowly focused band. I like every song to be different or else I get bored.

Our songs sound a bit different, but the "lead" guitar only has 1 sound, and that's Dime-shred style. Gets old really fast. Plus, he refuses to play in key with us or tune with us. He's in Drop D and figures, they're playing 3rd fret, so I will too! He's been made aware, he just won't fix it. Annoying. And the drummer... and the 2ND KEYBOARDIST! (Which is an entire thread itself.) I'll stop ranting before I blow. Tonight may be the last practice. We'll know in a few hours!

Two keyboardists in a band is two too many. Just Geddy that shizness yourself!

@askrere Try some kava, it does wonders for anxiety. I hear you with the confidence deal with job hunting. I have been GIS for 8 years and want to move up the ladder but read the job descriptions for higher levels and they want you to be some Einstein on computers to work in the mapping field and pay you less then computer technology fields.
