I do like the others, but I was never a fan of Metallica. A couple things from Kill 'Em All and a bit of the Garage days ep...that's it.

I was born in 1990 and had no older siblings living in my house. Music listening didn't really hit me until 2003 and older metal or punk for that matter was just never really a part of it.

I think you missed some good stuff. Not radio stuff, but undieground.

I also absolutely despise pink Floyd outside of the early syd Barrett stuff. So any doof with shrubs naturally thinks I've somehow never "understood" them and forces me to listen to them.

Kinda with you. LOVE the Syd era. After that, gets pretty spotty for me. I do like "Wish You Were Here" and a few other cuts, but some of that (I think) is due as much from hearing them so much in my youth as it is from just fundamentally liking the songs.

Though no one really digs my alt country, doomy, pop and grunginess much outside of here.

I bet some of our non-doom (and stuff that falls outside my metal/punk roots) musical interests coincide in some places.

Thought I'd share a picture from my ring of hell. The pano shot is where I work when I am on the deck ovens. The oven on the left is a 3 deck/6door and the one on the right is a 3 deck/9 door. I work them both a the same time. I did 690lbs this morning in two runs between 4-5:30AM for the 450lb run and 6-6:45 for a 240lb run. Probably had one of the most consistent bakes that I have done. 'Twas a good day for me and my team. I can share other bread we make if you guys are interested, but baguettes are always far more interesting than 12 buns on a pan.

And I bet it was only 237 degrees in there, right?

It was a cool night actually. Temps in Missouri have been around 85 as of late. In the bakery last night, it was probably 95-100 with 85% humidity. By the ovens, it was probably 105-110.

Deck ovens are around 400 degrees F. They are set between 200 and 230 degrees C.

The pickups in that Hondo Les Paul copy do sound better than my PRS SE Santanna and the Jackson Outlander. I need to bring thing back to life and get the pots all cleaned good and the action dialed in. Probably sell off the PRS and see how I like the Jackson after I swap the nut in it.

Yeah, probably just some jerks that hate their jobs. I'm always polite with the people i speak to on the phone or over email.

I don't do either as a part of work, but generally I try to be polite. Never hurts, after all. And I don't know what the other person's day is like besides my interaction with them.

Picked up a used Swollen Pickle. Not really sure why. I borrowed one a few years ago and couldn't get a good tone out of it, but I didn't know about the internal trimpots at that time. Guess I needed a second crack at twiddling the knobs. I'll prolly flip it after a couple days.

I haven't actually used the trim pots at all on the one I use. Basically I put the filter about 1:00, the sustain/fuzz/whatever it's called at around 7:00-8:00, real low, because it has way more on tap than I need (since I'm going into an already overdriven amp), scoop all the way... clockwise, I believe. Whatever the minimum amount of scoop is, that's where it's at. And the "crunch" control I have at about 9:00-10:00.

God I love those early Slayer albums. "Reign in Blood" and "South of Heaven" were such a killer one-two punch.

South of Heaven is definitely my favorite Slayer album.

What I mean by camp is just not very heavy to me. I'm not really a fan of most heavy as it Is, but the 80's just ain't it. It's not the subject matter so much, but the delivery and tone. Perhaps eyehategod would be a better example of non camp

Well no. It's not heavy. It's NWOBHM and thrash metal. Neither of those is actually very heavy, IMO. Usually heaviness has a somewhat inverse relationship to speed (to a point).

I know what some of you are thinking. "But muh favorite grindcore band is sooooo heavy!" No. No they are not. They're intense, but they're not heavy.

I'm sort of with askrere on 80s metal. I like the first two Metallica albums, Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind and The NUmber of The Beast alright enough, and some Judas Priest. Slayer I cannot stand though. As far as NWOBHM goes, the only group I listen to with any regularity is Motörhead, because god damned if I don't love me some Motörhead. Budgie isn't really NWOBHM, but are sort of pre-cursors, I like them a lot too.

But askrere, dude, no Floyd? To be fair, if some jerkoff is just trying to get you to listen to Dark Side, they probably don't know what they're on about. I mean, love them album, it's great, but there's WAY better stuff. Animals, I think, is their best album, but tracks like Echoes, One of These Days, The Embryo, Fat Old Sun, Have a Cigar, Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Love those, especially some of their live cuts (Pompeii, Live at BBC). I just recently tracked down the remastered 1974 Quadraphonic version of Pompeii and it is cool as sh**. The Wall...eh, it's alright but not their best. However, I do agree that the Syd era was awesome, people kinda overlook it.

Mmmmm, GFR. Love how that track goes from sweet acoustic to some of the raunchiest fuzz tone. Those early GFR albums are so great, everything up until E. Pluribus Funk, which might be my favorite album by them. People Let's Stop the War is burly, then Upsetter into I Come Tumblin'. The opening blast of fuzz in Got This Thing on the Move? How do people not like Grand Funk? Also, if anyone hasn't, check out Live: The 1971 Tour. Fantastic damn album, I actually prefer it to LIVE.

I love all types of heavy. I went through many phases of metal. I dig prog, thrash, British, hardcore and post hardcore, nu metal, math core, death, Swedish, doom, technical melodic death etc.

I really love all of it. I particularly loved post hard core. Some early Thrice, Norma Jean, and The Bled were favorites. Seriously though, paper tigers by thrice is ****ing legit.

Iron Maiden for life. Not so keen on the others. And Floyd sucks apart from David Gilmour's solos.

Put my thunderbird into C with some roto 66s, perfect Sleep tone.

My friend went to meet the new rabbi in town yesterday. Apparently the Messiah is coming at the end of next month. Keep your eyes peeled.
