Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So on a serious note. Couple questions.

Over the weekend I had to pick some speakers up from a friends house. He wasn't home and it was kind of a mess so I had to pry a bit to get them. I saw at his kitchen sink a tiny flask (chemistry kind), a burnt up spoon with white powdery residue in it and a bunch of torn up cigarettes.

Is that what I think it is? What behavioral signs/actions should I look for?

Yikes. I got nothing other than I'm afraid it is what you think it is.

Could be something else altogether, but what that might be, I do not know.

Dude, that is some bad news.

I wish I could offer advice, but I have no idea how to deal with that. I'm trying to think of something innocuous that it could be, but I can't.

Yea. He is a science based graduate student so he sometimes has certain stuff around that if not a scientist would be viewed as sketchy.

I've known him going on three years, and he's in the last year not done hardly anything towards graduating, drinks a lot and chooses sketchy girls he meets online. I'm more than certain its this girl he hangs with that would be into that (she reminds me of gollum physically).

I just assumed if you were into that, you'd be really sluggish and pretty much just on that. But they are both big drinkers, semi active and she's manic as hell (I'd assume you'd be the opposite on a combo of "alconarc".

Hello.

I've been lurking in this thread for a year or so, I'm over the voyeurism...mostly.
Here are some useful and interesting facts that I'm sure you are all dying to know about me.

Gear: Peavey Basses mostly, currently a duo of T-40 & GBass. W/ TC electronic Head/Cab. Pedals rotate monthly, currently Han-Taun, Iby Weeping Demon and onboard TC Elec. Effects.
Music: Sabbath, Sleep, Red Fang, The Sword, Baroness, Dozer, Big Business, Orange Goblin, Kyuss, Greenleaf + more, Punk, Rockabilly/Psychobilly.
Drink: Salty Dog (grapefruit juice, vodka, margarita salt) or cheap beer but mostly I drink water and ice tea. Though this talk of Kava intrigues me.
Misc: Graphic designer by day- father, husband, batman by night. Living in the burbs driving an SUV.
Likes: Short walks in dark alleys followed by awkward homoeroticism, laying down some bass and cheap American/Japanese basses from the 80's and 90's.

Aside from--or perhaps because of--the general air of creepiness involved with such a long-range lurk, I already feel like you're an old friend to me.

Let's get together, jam, talk Misfits, eat sammich. Then, maybe kill a drifter with a hammer.

@PokeyPrasch Han-Taun by Idiotbox? Is that a Klone? Also, post some pix, mang!
Klon Centaur, yes. Pix of Han-Taun or the awkward homoeroticism? Both soon.

Sounds great, I like foods and Misfits but I'm fresh outta drifters.

You had me at Kava...

I drink beer, not a fan of IPAs though

I tend towards stouts and porters and pretty hearty, dark beers but I do like a lot of lighter lagers and ales on hot summer days.

I've got some ginger beer at home but I can't drink it for awhile because I'm on heavy antibiotics for the next couple of weeks. To my recollection, I haven't tried ginger beer before. I am hoping it is not sweet like ginger ale cider or something.

Be honest. He had you at "lurking."

Man it's a whole different kind of heavy in here today. I too am a stout man. Left hand milk stouts are probably my current favorite.

Oh god yes. That stuff is killer. There's a local brewery here that does a small batch of something called "Prairie Bomb" once a year. Hard to get and pricey, but dang good.

But Left Hand Milk Stout, IMO, is every bit as good. I keep telling all the liquor store owners to recommend it as a replacement for Prairie Bomb to their customers.

I like most everything Shiner produces (except Ruby Redbird which has a grapefruit element.) Shiner also makes a prickly pear cactus beer that is real good. But THIS stuff (below) is one of my favorites. Definite chocolate overtone, but not sweet, just so good:

Here are the pics as requested, in the process of being kicked out of my office/practice space to make a bedroom for the youngest offspring. I don't always live like a doomy hobo hermit (but mostly)
Westone hangs on the wall in the front room as art, it's a nice bass but wife yells when it gets fingerprints. Pedalboard was rearranged last night after beer and icecream (spilt).

I want to try Kava but all the warnings about liver problems worry me a bit, I've abused my liver a lot already.
