Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Here are the pics as requested, in the process of being kicked out of my office/practice space to make a bedroom for the youngest offspring. I don't always live like a doomy hobo hermit (but mostly)
Westone hangs on the wall in the front room as art, it's a nice bass but wife yells when it gets fingerprints. Pedalboard was rearranged last night after beer and icecream (spilt).

I want to try Kava but all the warnings about liver problems worry me a bit, I've abused my liver a lot already.

A Westone! I used to drool over them in my teens at my local guitar shop. Memories...

I died at the bottom right pic. I've seen it before it was just super unexpected. I'm like in my offices laughing my ass off people must think I'm crazy.

My pedal board is constantly changing right now as I'm trying to find the right combination of things to work with my up and coming stereo setup

@Muddslide If you haven't had delerium stout it's also incredible, really pricy though.

It's a great bass, I'm surprised they don't get more love. 80's Matsumoko (sp?) for less than $200 usually.

Haha, yeah it's funny. My pedalboard is a moneysink, working on getting down to fewer effects. I traded my Red Witch Factotum straight across for the GBass in mint condition and I've been using the Toneprint stuff on my amp mostly, it's actually pretty good. The only pedals attached to the board are the tuner and amp switch. Weeping demon is new and I think I like it quite a bit better than the Dunlop...but it's hard to clean off ice cream.

I'm looking for a new fuzz.
I want to check out Red Witch Fuzzgod but I can only find one video of it used with bass, the Idiotbox Static Fuzz also looks nice.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA this week. Good stuff, though I usually don't drink more than two in one sitting because they have such a strong flavor.

Strong flavor = tastes objectionable

Only an hour to go till kava:30. I'm a stout, porter, and cider man but lately booze just seems silly to me now that I found kava. I drink it daily medicinally but a few times a week recreationally and even when you get twisted up tight on it, you still feel great the next day.

Recreationally is it just like being drunk without the potential for sickness or hangover?

Oh god yes. That stuff is killer. There's a local brewery here that does a small batch of something called "Prairie Bomb" once a year. Hard to get and pricey, but dang good.

But Left Hand Milk Stout, IMO, is every bit as good. I keep telling all the liquor store owners to recommend it as a replacement for Prairie Bomb to their customers.

I like most everything Shiner produces (except Ruby Redbird which has a grapefruit element.) Shiner also makes a prickly pear cactus beer that is real good. But THIS stuff (below) is one of my favorites. Definite chocolate overtone, but not sweet, just so good:

Ruby reds ok. Where and when did that birthday beer come out?!?

I'm 25 on August 25th might need some of that to forget that I'm a quarter of a century old edging closer to the big glue factory in the sky.

the red witch stuff has intrigued me for a long time especially the tremolo. a little overpriced in my opinion though.

I wish people who love to talk about IPA all the time would not. It's about the same as parents who want to explain to you how exceptionally gifted their kids are. These types of people usually have some sort of obscure measuring system memorized.

"Aspen is only 4 and he's already a Alpha 10 in his independent emotional intelligence bracket!"

"This limited run small batch IPA is a 20 on the Appelbaum Bitterness Scale!"

If anyone says "uhh, it's actually IBU's though really", punch yourself in the face. :***:

There are two main effects, heady which is euphoric and heavy which is muscle relaxing and you feel it more in your body with some overlap between the two at times. Basic feeling is relaxation and destressing. If you drink a lot of the heady then you can get like a high going, happy, euphoric, not as strong as weed but with mental clarity and no paranoia. The heavy feels more like four or five beers down and a good buzz going. Setting is important as annoyances will buzzkill and not let you really hear the kava as they say. It can be fickle some days no matter how much I drink I just feel the normal sense of well being and other days you have just a cup or two and you are in nirvana. I am so happy the anti-axiety and rem deep sleep effects but it is sure awesome recreationally too. I definitely prefer it to booze or green. I also enjoy how you can snap out of it if say and emergency pops up and you have to deal with life again.

Interesting stuff. The bar would be interesting, just cause I don't want to throw down on the stuff. Also I'm sketched out ordering something like that.

Askrere, your friend could injecting meth or cocaine, I've seen people do both. Spoon =/= heroin. Would also explain the boozing. The serious herion addicts that I've known don't touch alcohol, they say it flushes the opioids out of their system faster.

this would make sense for her behavior. I guess your right on the spoon. Also it was white and the opiates are like road/roofing tar unless medical grade I assume (black tar is the name right?).

I talked to him today and he's been out playing a soccer tourney all day so can't believe it's him. I think he's just got a nasty lady friend he enables cause she's like 35 and lives at home.

It comes in a few different forms. A Google image search will provide a quick education.

Yea I have some idea. Ive never personally seen anything hard in person so can't really judge what I saw. My feeling is it could only lead to trouble. My cousin just finished a 275 day stint for a teenth... Hadn't said a word to him for a while before I knew, now I just don't know what to say...

My biggest pet peeve among my friends though is everyone's insistence to climb trees in public. I'm a cool guy, but I'll straight up walk away if you do. I have too much planned to burn any bridges because I couldn't climb at home.

@askrere nothing sketchy about kava. Totally legal herbal product, no worries, even a product of Hawaii. It's not like spice or something like that.

As your future president I must be careful. If asked I sipped, but I didn't drink!

Some heavy sh!t in here recently. Condolences to everyone, hang in there...

I scoff at all of your sissy ninny beers, and raise you this!
