Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yea I have some idea. Ive never personally seen anything hard in person so can't really judge what I saw. My feeling is it could only lead to trouble. My cousin just finished a 275 day stint for a teenth... Hadn't said a word to him for a while before I knew, now I just don't know what to say...

My biggest pet peeve among my friends though is everyone's insistence to climb trees in public. I'm a cool guy, but I'll straight up walk away if you do. I have too much planned to burn any bridges because I couldn't climb at home.

As your future president I must be careful. If asked I sipped, but I didn't drink!

What does Flavored mean. In marketing terms that usually means we put something artificial in it.

Everybody just does it in the open here. It's the equivalent of a traffic ticket if you get busted, which I've never seen happen in Madison. I think it's a $40 dollar fine for a reasonable personal amount.

Homeless starter girlfriend...nice!

Gnaw on this baby, you won't even need teeth.

Nah like a year ago I went out with a friend of a friend and she seemed cool then kept drinking and came home and fired my pellet gun at the church next door. A different friend stopped by to distract her and they went outside to smoke and I locked them out and they've been dating ever since.

She came over today with 1 miller light, and has apparently gained like 30 pounds since I saw her in June, dyed her hair black and has decided deodorant isn't necessary.

Glad I locked that door!

Beats doing homework with my 6th grader. I had to be a dick to get her attention, don't like doing this, but pissing her off pushes her to focus a little more. This school starts separating classes and different teachers by subject at this grade. Not sure what the other public schools are doing in the area. This is going to be a challenging year for her, she seems to be afraid to ask questions in class... I'm encouraging her to speak up and dance on her desk till she understands what is being asked of her. I bloody hated school, now I'm working through it with her all over again. Main thing is not doing the work so much but getting her thoughts together to execute on assignments.

6th grade was the multi class transition here in Texas too.

My MXR fuzz crapped out apparently. Nothing but buzz through amp and 4 track, regardless of settings, volumes or cables.

You did try the battery right.

Good idea, and I have a rack shelf, but that would block the 700RB's vent fan input. No bueno. I'm hoping to mount the 700RB, MB200 and a power strip/conditioner in a 4u rack. Gotta have the MB200 on top of the 700RB so I can make connections, which means I have to let the 700 breathe.

Keep the ideas coming!

Take the fan vent and shelf and drills the holes of one into the other? Mind you take the vent off the fan to do it.

You can be ballsy if you want here and no doubt will get away with it. I just don't know what could occur, I have friends who didn't get away with it. I'd rather not have to check the crime box on applications for the rest of my life.

I think it's silly you have to hide it though don't get me wrong, especially since I can walk down the street drinking openly here lol.

Think I'm down to two options:
1. Veclro the MB200 on top of the 700RB, allowing the 700RB to breathe.
2. I have a rack spacer on top of the 700RB currently. I could fashion ears from that, also allowing the 700RB to breathe.

I've got a get-together with dad tomorrow anyway, and we're working on a project. He might be able to help with this too. Being an engineer and all, he's better at figuring this sort of stuff out than I am.

Jammed with a second guitarist yesterday with PVy, definitely something there, good player, good guy, Sovtek Mig 100 with a double cut LP. He' ll mos def be getting a call back. Adding a second guitar is opening up a whole new world of possibilities of amazeballs.

Lent my buddy whose in PVy, my MACE and EVM215, crushingly loud compared to his VTM 60.

Re: Red Witch, my buddy I just mentioned actually uses the fuzz and tremelo, great pedals, I agree a bit expensive new but well worth picking one up used.

2 MB200s.

As far as elevating in public goes, I have had a couple encounters with Johnny L, and I have learned. I never go out into public with my own stuff once it lands at my casa. It's just not worth it anymore. I will still partake in public on occasion, mainly concerts and long car rides, but never with my own equipment. I still have a sparkling record though. It helps to have a family full of lawyers with a couple judges in the mix. Actually my whole family is mostly useful, all lawyers or mechanics.

Thank guys. My friend Andy, that passed away yesterday was also super close to my friend that died last year. Andy had moved to Maine with his mom to try and get out of his behaviors. His behaviors followed him to Maine and he took his own life yesterday. Andy and I weren't mega close, but he was so close to my best friend, that it's hard to not revisit those feelings. Andy was a good dude, and he played in a band with two of my best friends. Andy was smart, funny, and just a good person to know. They all got into drugs pretty heavily after I moved. My friends know that my family has battled addiction and is the main reason I never went for anything hard. I would also kick my friend's asses if I knew they were in it. I've lost too many people to drugs. I'm just emotionally exhausted right now.

Did anyone catch the new legislation that allows 11 year olds to be prescribed Oxy? Yeah, this is fvcked. I'm feeling kinda pissed about it.
My condolences. I know words are hollow at this time, but we are ALL here sending good vibes and healing thoughts your way.

Hello.

I've been lurking in this thread for a year or so, I'm over the voyeurism...mostly.
Here are some useful and interesting facts that I'm sure you are all dying to know about me.

Gear: Peavey Basses mostly, currently a duo of T-40 & GBass. W/ TC electronic Head/Cab. Pedals rotate monthly, currently Han-Taun, Iby Weeping Demon and onboard TC Elec. Effects.
Music: Sabbath, Sleep, Red Fang, The Sword, Baroness, Dozer, Big Business, Orange Goblin, Kyuss, Greenleaf + more, Punk, Rockabilly/Psychobilly.
Drink: Salty Dog (grapefruit juice, vodka, margarita salt) or cheap beer but mostly I drink water and ice tea. Though this talk of Kava intrigues me.
Misc: Graphic designer by day- father, husband, batman by night. Living in the burbs driving an SUV.
Likes: Short walks in dark alleys followed by awkward homoeroticism, laying down some bass and cheap American/Japanese basses from the 80's and 90's.
Brilliant introduction!

Parts acquired for my P project. The Squier's spent the past 5+ years buried in a closet and I'm finally resurrecting it.

The plan:

New pup: EMG Geezers
New bridge: BAII
New BWB pg
New pots, input jack (old ones are scratchy/dead)
Gonna string it up with BEAD from a DR HI Beam 5-string set. Maybe a new nut, too, if the old one doesn't file well.

Recorded bass and click track for a ditty I wrote the minute I got home tonight.

My stepson's gf who just had their baby in April got hit by a car today while crossing a street in Norman. Broken pelvis, tailbone, wrist, collarbone and other things I am forgetting. Big hematomas on her head, one the doctor's are concerned about. Some of her internal parts are so bruised they can't assess damage. But she's conscious and can talk and they think her spine is okay.
Holy sh!t! Mojo sent!

Wah do you ask?

You just described my Fury. You will be satisfied. EMG GZRs will come with pots and an output jack. I think they come with knobs to, but you probably have something more classy on hand already.

Had a really poopie day yesterday. Today is a new day though and I feel great. I had a great talk with my boss and my best friend which really helped me feel like the floor was back under my feet.

Woke up today and found a JBL K140 for $164 shipped on the bay and jumped. I would have liked to have found a deal, but considering I got my first K140 for like $45 shipped I think I made out alright for the pair. Noisemaker pedal can wait. Now I am only wood and time away from a 2000s cab clone. Debating whether I should make it look like an original 2000s cab or do the whole stain and poly thing that seems to be the bees knees.

To add to Matts P bass post,

When Fury number 2 arrives, I am really debating having someone go at my black fury with a router and slide a GZR J pup in there. I have mostly gotten over my urges to irreparably modify my basses, but I don't have a J anything and it would be cool to have that tone if I wanted it. I know Furies are cheapo basses, but thoughts on hacking into a bass that isn't produced anymore? For the record my black fury is no beauty prize. Bunch scuffs on the back and paint chips.

Sooo...a question. The Mrs. made a deal with me that if she could do something she's wanted to do (cost zero $$), which I let her do yesterday, then I could go out and get a new set of irons for the golfing. This will run north of $400 at a minimum, and I definitely don't need them, it's been more of a "I'd like to get new....". The question becomes: do I take her up on it, or do I do the smart thing and let it go? We're pretty good about the money, and saving, and having enough for emergencies and such, so it's not like it would be any dicey situation to spend it. And she DOES have a horse....

Well, you should have bought my Foundation S, LOL. I don't really foresee the Fury skyrocketing in value, so, I vote Yes.
