good show tonight. Modest crowd, good response. We played pretty good, except for the parts we shaged up. Rig was slayin' hard. Resinator's drummer Shane played with a literally blistering 2nd degree sunburn. Other bands Consumer and Quantum Colossus, they are all super, check them out. Consumer is just bass, drums, and vocals. Lots of effects, noisy punk-experimental, they have new ep on bandcamp. My pals Resinator are heavy as fvckballs, look em up.

$25. With an adapter. Looks dusty, but not beat up.

That makes sense, given that the Rails is designed to imitate an amp's cranked overdrive.
What's an HM-2?
Yeah, for whatever reason, I never think of things like that until MUCH later than I should. Makes perfect sense, really. I typically just set my pedals up from low to high gain and go from there, but I messed around with the position of the Rails since it was weird shaped and found it's best at the end. Great little pedal! It's now the heart of my sound!
The HM-2 is a legendary Boss pedal that was discontinued about 20 years ago. It's a love/hate thing for many people, but it was THE sound for a bunch of old-school Swedish death metal bands such as Entombed, Dismember, Grave, etc. That's why I'm getting it. They typically go for around $100 from what I see these days, so $25 is great! But I'm still waiting on a response...
In other news, now that I've only been focusing on fuzz tones for a few weeks, the B3K just doesn't sound so amazing these days. Not that it's bad, just that I can tell that I've been on a fuzz hunt. I turn on a fuzz and get massive gain, distortion, and I just bathe in filth. Turn on the B3K and it almost seems "warm" in comparison. Again, not bad, but man, I can tell my ears have been searching for something else. What really sucks is that the fuzz hasn't been working in the mix but the B3K always has! Oh well, hopefully I've got that remedied now. I'll find out for sure Wednesday.
KILL-tone. With a bunch of mugshots of famous mass murderers, but they're all photoshopped into making endorsements for whatever gear you happen to be flipping at the time?

I just go with whatever works in the mix and let my ears get used to that sound. I tend not to change my pedal settings or amp settings when I'm by myself.
Of course, I'm also rarely in the rehearsal studio by myself, either.
I can't resist tweaking. I always make note of where I started, though. That way, if my new sound absolutely blows, I can at least get back to what was likely a usable tone in the mix and tweak from there.
Good idea in practice, but people might assume Ask ReRe is a black persons advice column lol.

Yeah, just for me, I learned a long time ago that usually adjusting the sound so that it sounds good to me on its own is not going to do well when I actually play with the bands.
I know that internally, just can't resist. Fuzz seems to be the worst, though. I can dial in my B3K and Gamma Bass no problem to sit well in the mix before I ever play with people. Fuzz is just a different beast.
All depends on the last stage is going to do with your input. I've found the gamma is good to heat up the ATK a little before munching it through the dirt then off to the preamp. The preamp I pretty much leave it at the SVT ish imulation and make minor EQ tweaks to suite the room. Vary little adjustments of pedal EQ after leaving the wood shed...
