@Kawai-chang I'm in the initial testing stage but yerba mate tea might be keeping my migraines at bay. I have gone two days without one. Vasodilators like sumitriptans(imitrex) are the only things that chase off eyestabbers for me after years of trying different medicines. Yerba mate is a natural vasodilator. I know your wife suffers and thought I would mention it to you. The last two days I mixed four ounces mate with four ounces of kava before bed, do the same for breakfast, and have two full cups during the day at work. Lots of clean energy, doesn't mess with my sleep, and knock on wood no migraines in two days. Slight migraine aura/dizzyness and pressure on my temples from this crazy weather but no full blown eyestabber. My girlfriend just called to tell me she is having a nasty headache today. I am surprised I don't have one as we both have the same triggers, allergens/swollen sinuses and big seeps in barometric pressure. She only gets them when it is really bad so I will be slamming mate today!

Yerba Mate: The Migraine Enemy - Step To Health

Had the strongest euphoric kava experience I ever had last night. The owner of Cactus Kava sold me a pound of Fijian Loa Lawena that isn't in his product line till next week. He knows I love Fijian and Tongan strains and wanted me to review it for him. My goodness it was potent. I was making dinner when it kicked in then just leaned back on the sink and just felt the whole body BZZZZZZZ and giggly happy feeling. Grabbed the bass and felt my inner drone come through, kava stops me from noodling when playing, like I can just trip out on a droney line and keep it steady rolling and stay right there in it. The Fijina Loa Lawena is listed on his site yet but will be soon and it is about ten bucks cheaper than his current Vanuatu strains so figured I would post about my favorite kava so far.

I was just listening to the new Kylesa. Tempo wise it is a little more laid back, but the musicianship is spot on. Chase's bass tone is huge, especially when he kicks on the OD.

Eventually new pickups, still dunno what to pick. Not familiar with many humbucker purchase options with three in mind. Were these progressively more powerful torward the bridge, or all one output?

I'm stuck between
1. classic 3 buckers
2. Buckers with middle p90
3. Adapters for a tele pickup set and a middle bucker
4. ??

Not to mention endless wiring potential.

HOT! I always liked Seth Lover HBs, but they are pricey. Lots of options. Again, hear really good things about GFS/guitar Fetish pups, and they are the cheap.

Someone (Duncan? DiMarzio?) used to make clones of the old Gibson PAF buckers that were supposed to be killer.

One word--you may not have considered: Filtertrons. People neglect Gretsch stuff FAR too much.

Had kind of a banner day yesterday, gear-wise. For me at least. No pics yet, but I got my amp and Squier P bass out of layaway finally. I immediately took the bass to a shop...it needed stuff. It's getting all new wiring, pots, jack, knobs, strings (DR Hi-Beams), a setup, new pickguard, the pickup from an old MIJ P-bass copy...

Also got the Fender Rumble 150 combo.

ASLO also, while there I picked up a cheap cheapo Strat copy. I've been wanting one for recording. Wanted something Fenderish with a whammy. Prefer Teles, but a cheap Strat fit the bill. This one is white on white on maple, which matched my currently fvcked-up Rondo/SX Tele copy.

Think I'm pretty set, equipment-wise. I do want to get some kind of organ (or some cheap keyboard that will emulate one decently) and I think I'll need reverb, tremolo and delay pedals to really get where I wanna go, but those'll come in on the bye and bye.

Got the fender TBP racked up and it sounds good. Can't go wrong with the fender tone stack all set to 5. Vari-Q is a nice feature also. Had the brimstone sent to a friends house since I was out of town so have to wait to mess with it till next week. I actually have a gig this weekend

Anyone know if vintage mics can be repaired and if parts are common (like new diaphragms and the muffly foam)?

My friend brought me that bunch of vintage shure mics, and a few need new xlr cables and I'm not sure any work really.

Oh yeah, you can definitely find those parts and repair old microphones. My boss is way into that stuff, I'll ask him where to go for parts online.

Yep. There's also my homemade cab that's currently disassembled which isn't in this pic.

Interestingly I was doing some side by sides on the heads today, and noticed the 2000s with the tube recs actually stays cleaner farther up the dial than the other two. At 7, it's about the perfect crunch, whereas the other two (both SS rectified) at the same exact settings are noticably more distorted/driven. The other two are louder, which is to be expected, but like I said, also more distorted. Idk if it has to do with the rectifiers entirely though, as when 2000s #1 was serviced by Conrad some years back, he said it had a different gain stage setup in the front end in order to stay cleaner longer, though I've never had this verified by any other tech (haven't needed to have it worked on since).
