Conversely, I'm trying to leave the PNW for California as soon as possible. I've also thought about the UK given that I can get dual citizenship, the only issue being my Sunns aren't setup for international voltage...

If I was gonna move out of the country I'd be back in Malaysia.
Cheap, beautiful and my uncle owns a condo there, so easy start.
If I was to leave Texas, I'd be super sad. Nola, NYC, charleston SC, savannah GA or Tucson AZ. Maybe the pnw, but I get a bad vibe from portlandia lol.

I love New Orleans, but haven't been there since Katrina. I like Baton Rouge a ton better. I love to visit NYC, and did plenty when we were living 90 minutes north of it. Wouldn't consider living there unless I was independently wealthy or was making 7 figures a year. Never been to Charleston but my wife lived there for a while before we met. She didn't care for it.
I love Savannah and Tuscon. Great towns. I have family in Tuscon. There's not really any part of AZ I don't like.
Portlandia is hilarious, and often spot on. The PNW in general is so beautiful, but the thing that got to me most living there is that from March to October, the weather can be gorgeous. Eternal Spring, with air like champagne. But from October to March, it is gray and rains at least a little every damn day pretty much, or it did the years we lived there. I like rain and some overcast days, but it got a little oppressive. I think my whole family got a little depressed with it, without even being aware of the cause.
But there's a lot more to the PNW than Portland and Seattle.
I went to college with a bunch of dudes from Malaysia. Interesting thought. Wonder how difficult it is for a yankee to move there. Is it humid as hell most of the year? Is it really that cheap?
Overcast with rain beats the hell out of deadly cold, snow and 4:00pm sunsets.
My uncle moved to Malaysia for business in the 90's and remained there intermittently until around 2009. He married a lady from there and has three kids now. They all have dual citizenship. I visited in 2001, and 2007 for the duration of the summers.
It was like at most .25 cents to the dollar to live there. You're family if not picky will eat better than you ever have for the cost of one of you to eat lunch off the dollar menu at McDonald's here. it's weird, but they think white people are like a hot commodity so they love it. If you sit in a restaurant you're like a sign for the restaurant that they are cool. Also not that it matters now, but at 17 they didn't ID me lol.
Anyone who is anyone speaks English and wants to talk to you. Malay is based on the phonetic alphabet so if there no English signs you can at least easily recognize terms even if you don't really understand.
It's humid and rains every day. The limited central mountain range is more cool, but it's SE asia still. But similar healthcare system to Canada, best beaches I've ever seen, the most amazing rainforests and more culture and history that a brick of cheese.
I have my original roots family in Iceland. Though who wants to spend top dollar to live in the desolate cold island of the north, with the worst food in the world...

Yes, I well recall in New York going outside at 4:30 in the afternoon and it already looked like midnight. And it would snow 12" one day, no snow the next, then 18", then 6" the next day. I'm done with that.
This is all highly interesting to me. Have to look into immigration laws. Or hell, possible future vacation maybe. Sounds incredible.
But...but they have geysers and hot springs. Everywhere.

I love when you all get on a wish I could move kick as I love to hear about other parts of the country. I hate the cold from growing up in PA and like Mudd I hate it worse and worse wigh age. I would love to see the desert even if it was just the high desert of eastern OR or WA. That water situation is scary. Wish I could work from home somehow to winter in Florida or Arizona and summer in a cold state. Like a cabin back home in Northeast PA.
On a side note I made contact with a Fijian expat who will supply me with bulk kava I can package and resell. I miss flipping guitar gear since that dried up. So i will take a stab at kava sales as a side hobby business.

Don't forget deserts, Rocky regions and scrublands. Also the alligator filled swampy east. Where I'm from in Austin is considered sub tropical/Mediterranean.
I'll always recommend Malaysia, and my aunts mom over there will set up/rent out the family condo if friends or family are there visiting. It's in KL, the Capitol city. There used to be two more, one on Panang island and another in Singapore. He got laid off and moved to AZ and sold off most of his collected little places.
Iceland is a sad lonely place outside of Reykjavik. It's beautiful, but in a very bleak sad way. I can't do grey skies.
FYI I'd go for an asian girl before a blonde. That brunette pictured is the highlight of the group. Just a preference.

Spent a week almost in the French quarter (where can I find another gf who will take me on vacation like that?). Was a nice humid stank with great sleaze, skeeze, grease and probably a few fleas. So naturally it was amazing, with the best food and people if you don't say muffuletta wrong.

I'm used to hearing it pronounced the Italian way at sandwich shops and delis around here, but everyone from NOLA I've ever heard pronounces it MUFF-A-LOTTA.
On today's practice I discovered that there's little difference in the mix whether I use a fuzz or a RAT.
...yeah, also, my Megalith copy sort of died. It switches on and there's fuzz, but when I switch it off there's no signal passing through. Happened to me first time. Faulty switch?

I really liked NOLA when I lived near it. Same goes for Lafayette.
I HATE Baton Rouge. The people there are incredibly two-faced and selfish.
The wife and I spent about 8 years trying to build a life near Baton Rouge. I'll not go back there again. Too many people trying to climb the social ladder at the expense of everyone else.
Nothing I miss more than the food though. Its been rough trying to find good food up here in the PNW.
There are a few strange things I really miss about The South though. I actually miss the way it rains down there. Actual showers as opposed to really wet fog that shows up all the time here. I also really miss the sounds of frogs and cicadas at night. Things are oddly quiet here. I lived most of my life falling asleep to that and it was soothing to me hearing the nature just outside my window. I tried noise machines but it just ain't the same. Kinda like being inside a copier machine.

You can make a Muff and a Rat sound nothing like each other in really extreme ways, but there's actually a lot of overlap in which the difference is negligible even solo. I did a direct comparison between a Rat and W&C Pickle Pie B using a blend with each to get just a bit of hair on the tone. Once you start being more extreme like hard picking or going very dark or bright with the tone, the differences are highlighted a lot more.

Coming out of winter here made me realise how much I like the sun. Not sure where I'm gonna go after I finish my degree. I have UK citizenship, but the cold sucks, though they probably have a better metal scene than here.
