Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

This next election goes south Canada looks like a good option. Just not Montreal.

Although California has been home for most of my life a change may be needed in the next couple years. If I stay with this company the midwest may be my next step. Well see what the future holds day by day.

We keep getting booked on weird bills. May be playing with Blind Illusion if we all agree on taking the gig.
This next one is all metal acts at the Gilman, aside from us playing hardcore. Fang is the only punk act the night after.
I remember the days this was not the norm. Now mixed genera bills are getting common. Honestly I could care less but some in the band would like to play a all hardcore bill for a change.

Bassic - Definitely a decent metal scene in the UK, and the winters (at least by midwest US standards) are pretty damn mild. We were there in the back half of december and I was fine in a light coat. I wore a stocking cap but that's just because my baldy head gets cold.

I realize that my standard for cold is probably different than a lot of people's but the UK has it pretty easy. Hell, there was still green grass growing everywhere, (Ireland especially - greenest place I've ever seen) don't get that here in the winter time.

Yea, it is mild compared to a lotta places, pretty damn cold compared to Sydney though.

I opened it up, damn builder gooped all the solders. Good thing he gives guarantee for all his products, gonna ship it to him and let him do the work.
I'm a bit pissed off though, Mooers and Joyos hold well, better quality pedals fail me from time to time.

Bummer, hope he fixes and gets you straight. People shouldn't build if they can't solder, effen stumpjumpers.

I would see Fang just for grins. I was never hugely into them, but I did own the "Landshark" album back in the day. I was definitely a punk rock kid more than anything else back in the 80s, though I liked a lot of other kinds of music, but I realized even then a whoooole lot of punk was boring, derivative, or just poorly executed (and not in a good way.) Of course, I think you can say the same for just about any genre or era of music. A lot of old punk rock doesn't stand up well today either, but the stuff that was the best back then (IMO) does still hold up well.

Well dammit, after a couple months of zero gig offers (half the shows we've played are ones I put together myself and haul the PA to), I have to turn down opening for Spirit Caravan and Mondo Generator on Halloween.

got my tix, for me, the wife, the bro-in-law, the out-of-town friend. Also looking forward to maybe meeting some of the folks from this board coming into town. Not gonna miss this show.

Oh well.
