Yep, that was my reaction 10 years ago when I heard the euro tour story. Sorry about your guitarists' amp, that's some shaging ********.
I just cant believe he didnt demand some kind of compensation. I wouldve been standing between them and the guy paying them at the end of the night for sure!
dont know yet.. It turns on, but only makes a very soft hiss. In other words, you can tell its on, but no signal.

The classic 20 heads interesting, but at $499? Classic 30 is like $250-$375 and can be turned down and still sound good or get very loud. But that 2x12 and the king mini look like they'd be fun.

Yeah, I'd go for the Classic 20 in that case. I've been looking at that one for a while, but I've also considered picking up one of those Orange CR120H heads and they're close to the same price.
can't think of specific examples in my playing but funk and motown do influence the way i might approach a bassline. mostly note selection and timing as a opposed to rythm.
No Motown or Funk influence in my playing, but I've been thinking about learning some Motown tunes on bass. Seems like a good way for me to break out of my patterns and learn to play more interesting, melodic stuff. Whether it gets used in the band or not remains to be seen.
Also, on a related note - there's a Jackson 5 song with a killer bassline, don't remember the name of it, but I want to learn that sucker too...

So, perhaps good news... I posted on their Facebook page about the amp. 3 hours later they contacted the owner of it... so PERHAPS they are going to take care of it. I'm thinking that they may only be doing it because they borrow gear often and don't want that on Facebook, but hey, as long as his amp is made whole!
I think this is the genre I need to found.

I don't get into a lot of the more slappy-poppy stuff, and I don't really play much stuff along those lines, but I dig it.
In recording project news, we've tried a lot of approaches to do seriously heavy guitar music, and my buddy and I now realize doing it long distance and without better equipment, it's just not good enough for our liking, so while we are still working on the garage rock stuff some, we switched gears to very obscene sounding material (not lyrically obscene, just filthy sounds) that for lack of a better term could be called synthpunk. He's got tons of electronic gadgetry and I'm playing (often heavily-effected) bass and guitar. Bueno results so far!
Next up we'll probably be doing 1920s jug band music, and we actually recorded and gigged a lot AS a jug band back in the 90s when we lived near each other...no plans to seriously undertake that again though. It's another style of music that works so much better when you can jam together in person.
went to gc on saturday before the beer rollout at masque attack(that was great, many, many, many naughty chica costumes), some dude was trying to sell us a woolly mammoth for more than my geiger counter cost, the upstairs br had no tp, the downstairs br had a fecal issue allover the seat and the toilet was clogged with hand towels, i told the manager and he just said to use another restroom (jerk off) so i had to use the ladies room, then i did find a nice natural/cherry les paul bass for 499 with thunderbird pickups, but i was not sure i wanted to buy it, because i mean seriously i would have to take it to wilkins to get repainted and i wasn't going to give such an usanitary place my money, and to the gc douche that reads my anti gc posts, please don't read this post and send me some buddy buddy email to my personal email account about some exclusive private promotion or inquiry about if i enjoyed my recent trip to gc, you guys are gross, you have poor leadership, you are disorganized, you are slow, and i'd rather just buy gear from the licensed mesa repair center in joshua tree anyway, cause they are a hell of a lot more with it and they need the cash to keep providing affordable music lessons to the community, sorry, i feel better now that i wrote that
Haha That festival was a charlie foxtrot through and through. I was struggling to find ANYONE. I even got separated from my girl for a while and had to search for her.
I did end up meeting @Burnsy though, which was great. It was a great show I thought. C&C were a little more sloppy than times I had seen them in the past but it was still good. Primus was a little quiet in my opinion, but they brought the heat as always. Tool... what more can I say... Dressed as Led Zeppelin and opening with No Quarter, extended version of Opiate and all the best tunes. My chips are on black saying that was the last Tool performance for a long time, maybe ever. Stoked I got to see it. Bummed that by the time I worked my my way through the entrance line, the ID line and the beer line; the merch booth had experienced utter devastation. I was hoping for a poster (signed would have been dope) but those apparently were gone within 45 minutes of open.
The show was excellent, but my experiences in AZ probably topped my show experience. To all the AZ folk here and @Muddslide, y'all are right. AZ ****ing rules. Fast highways, block layout across the city, endless hole in the wall mexican food places that are amazing. Sedona was on another level. Cathedral rock was one of the most cathartic climbs I have ever made. I want to live in villa on top of a mesa in Sedona and that's that.

Yeah dude, after I woke back up I somehow stumbled my way from the middle of the crowd to the back to finish tools show. I'm also glad I got to witness it. Would have loved to see them back in the early 2000s during their peak. Maynards screams were weak and we're for the most part non-existent but they still blew my mind.
Also big 10-4 on Arizona. It may become a focus in my life to move out there sometime. What an awesome place.
It was "I Want You Back". Heard it at the grocery store the other day and it's been stuck in my head.
