Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Reading about the EHX cockfight on thegearpage. So cool, they released info on it October 22nd, started building them November 2nd and they were available for purchase November 9th! That's efficient stuff

That's what happens when a company manufactures stuff in the U.S. To be fair, EHX is really good at making sure the kinks are worked out before announcing and going into production. Now, if they could figure out how to let their dealers know about products without having to ask... (I signed up for their email feed on my personal gmail just so I could get the product announcements.)

Damn Bryce... If your dually matched mine(read:I had the cajones to order something different than black) I would totally be into that swoop. Also I'm going to field your pedal request. I have 6 pedals on my board now, but they consist of 4 dirt boxes a phaser and my tuner so it isn't all that interesting at the moment.

But speaking of pedals I want to move some to find some Xmas gifts and stash the cash aside for when @dunwichamps and magick open up preorders/sales for the ODB.

Probably going to part with:

Dunwich Ge turret board Cthulhu
EQD Speaker Cranker
LWA Iron Fist
Abominable Electronics Hail Cannibus
Tortuga Fire Ant (@kleinenenten hit me up about trying this. May be a good Rat variant for your guitar board)

I may move some other things as well. But that's what comes to mind first. I'm pretty content with the UD for more clear and articulate drive(to be replaced by the ODB) and the LWA extreme octave for more balls to the wall fuzz. The BDPG is pretty awesome. Adds loads of low end and with the new mods Ryan did including the addition of a boost, it can actually stay pretty clean and be used as a low end booster at the end of the chain. Still need more knob twiddling time.

I almost got it in total white, but I knew I'd have it very gross looking in no time haha.

I got that buggy blue voodoo amp and half stack for like $100ish, and the straight 4x12 is solid 3/4" marine grade Baltic birch, with metal grill. So I'm thinking it won't sell for much being crate, and it's a great body, so I'm gonna go wild refinishing it for myself. Worst case scenario, it sells for about the same.

Here's my pedalboard. I don't use all of that in the band. Delay, wah and octave are used mainly for my solo impro psych ventures.
Damn, I don't know how to embed an Instagram photo.

edit: wow, it embedded itself! :D

Still liking the tender octave? What's the lowest you've tuned with it?

What's your actual board brand, or DIY method? New rule.

Did you ever pull one of the drivers on that 4x12? Some Crate cabs have nice speakers in them. Usually, a red name badge indicates Celestion drivers, but that's not always the case. I used to have a HUGE rat-fur 4x12 that had celestion greenbacks. Bought it for $50, used it for 10 years, then sold it for $250. Wish I still had it, but needed the funds for a for-real bass rig.

I think I'm sitting at 10 pedals on board right now, I'll snap a photo tonight. My cable management is a mess but it works.

So a week ago today I ordered a capacitor kit for the Ampeg AC12. Had it shipped to work, thinking it would arrive yesterday or today and I've have something to work on during the snow storm this weekend. Didn't show up yesterday, today I get an email from Fliptops saying that it just shipped. It takes a shaging week just to ship something? Maybe I have unrealistic expectation because of where I work (order in before 2:30 pm ships same day, after that it ships the next day - never longer than that), but damn, a week? A couple of days is reasonable, but if poopie's going to take a week just to get out the door then I expect a courtesy email letting me know. The website said everything was in stock. For a company with such a sterling reputation around here I was definitely taken aback.

That thread on the John K mod for the Pork Loin has me Gassing so much I need some Beano. I was already wanting to get another Pork Loin, but after hearing his sound samples comparing the stock to the mod sound from one easy mod I am jonesin' hard. Time to put it in on my Krampus List.

Great googly moogly... I need one. You have a soldering iron?

Mine has the 70/80 copies. Nothing special sadly, but it'll do.

Oh and mines missing all the hardware so where is a place to buy that cheaply. Also on top it has 4 rectangular holes where some kind of hardware goes to hold the casters of the top cab (what are these things called?)

i guess i can run the sub signal through the yamaha PA and cerwin vega club speakers and dry signal into the rat tail for the mesa 180 and orange 115s, now the drummer wants to play the drums along with the drum machine with heavy reverb, we must keep pushing when people tell us things aren't punk or metal i know that they're just afraid of a bunch of 40 year old people in their underwear playing in a warehouse that aren't interested in getting signed or being played on the radio, i mean why would you do something if it isn't an imitation of something that is currently the most popular thing in LA ***, no thank you, more girls, more volume, more bass, more fetish videos, and more disco lights please
