It is. And goddammit I miss that Rusty! One gear mistake I made for sure. I don't know if I would feel the same about a cab though.

maybe you could take a printmaking class and just etch the enclosures and not actually make any prints on paper

I can't draw mind you. What kind of prints do you mean?
This was gonna be me havin my dad show me how to scale a model in his engineering software ha. Half the interest is also the ability to accurately place all pots and components based on the etch.
the schools have the plates and the acid baths and they can do photo etching, just put the image on the plate straight up for a pedal, instead of backwards for a print
Etching is easy, I did it a lot at my last job before they bought a laser engraver.
I'm going to try it on a pedal once I get my garage cleaned up a little.
I've never done detailed graphics though, when I'd done it in the past it was always just text or a logo.

Yea I'm not looking for anything but labeling pots and placement and maybe a simple name or design. Etched argyle pattern?
So I still need the lift for the floor tom/bass drum to finish the mini kit and get it playable. Basically I want it to sound like what I hear in my head which is old warm and fast attack, then muted.
The mapex Venus 16x16" (bass) drum has a reso head cut completely out to 1" so it can have a hoop, but it's open. I want to mount a piezo in it and the tom.
The 80's tama rockstar 11x12" (floor) tom mounts to the cymbal stand and has two Evans g2 heads for a very warm low sound. It's the ringiest and lowest piece to accent it as a "floor tom" vs a ton. Piezo needs to go here too.
The mapex meridian birch 5x14" snare also has a g2 top, and a g2 Dry reso tuned tightttt. Then the piece that completes it? The full circle chunk of head cut from the bass drum. Just fast *thack!* at a level perfect for the mix of the kit. This is getting a spare strat pickup setup to be under the wires.
These pickups will all mix into a mini 9v pedal board sized mixer. Then it can take pedals!

So due to my recent g&l disappointment I ordered a sb1 pick up and g&l bridge I plan on installing in a p bass I don't own yet. Fender classic 50's I'm thinking.
The funny thing is:I hate gold. On a bass I always think of Slap-Gospel-Cheese.
The texture of anodized aluminum has more depth than opposed mirrors. Aluminum can be anodized in an assortment of colors but really gold is all you see on basses.
I'd love a black anodized pickguard on a black P.
