Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

To each his own.

All I meant was the worlds scary, but we don't need to let fear in the moment dictate how we allow ourselves to react. we are by and large a civil nation, and we can't allow the crazy to determine how the rest of us must live.

But England was gone and he still wanted guns just in case for a hypothetical return. They did return once though, so he wasn't wrong.

I think he's just as likely to see the violence in the streets and want to carry a gun just as much as he'd be inclined to eliminate them. It's a coin toss as we really don't know beyond face value what he's said.

Current owner of a target .22 I really don't need. Sorry for stirring stuff up and sounding wacky if you think so. It just sucks we live in a time where people do this, and we are forced to endure the repercussions whatever they may be.

I agree with you. Disarming the populace of a country with an already corrupt political system seems like an easy way to indoctrinate people. They'll pry my guns out of my cold dead hands.

Currently rocking a shortscale P bass with flats. And it's a sunburst. And it has a tort pickguard. Did I mention it has flats?
And rocking a 12-guage pump. Wife just passed her CCW class and rest and will be rocking a wheelgun of some form. I prefer pointy things for self defense, since smelling the breath of the dude you are killing is doom.

Today's been odd. Real burned out on lots of things. Was browsing the C9 thread here and in a youtube video some dude from EHX was playing Beatles on guitar(as an organ).
Reminds me to listen to them. Really love that poopie and I'm often forgetting real classics like that.
(Not that 'Sabbath ain't classic) Time to dive into my CD collection.
Probably not gonna sleep much, going from one album to the next, but the Beatles is always a happy binge for me.
Wish I'd thought about them earlier could have been a better day.
At least the ending is sweet.

The Ibanez J sounds really fugging good. Neck plays gloriously. It's a keeper. Timeout from band practice tonight at MDT HQ.

All of my firearms are man killers. But I prefer to eliminate soup cans, soda bottles, fruit and paper. Right now I have an AK74, an AR that I built, a 10/22 modded into a sniper rifle, a couple handguns, a bolt 12 ga and the coup d'état a semi auto 12ga. I don't keep anything at my place aside from a 9mm in the off chance my apartment gets burglarized. I'd hate to see some real heat make it to the streets.

I got my replacement Faital today. Got her installed and played for a bit. My beta wouldn't turn on even though it functioned just fine 45 minutes prior with another cab, more investigation is necessary. With the 2000s I heard a weird high end buzz and some farty noises. Had me down in a bad way, but then I EQed some of it out and switched to the V4B. That amp did not produce the same noise but feedback like crazy with a clean signal until I dialed the mids and treble back. I was happy to find good to Tones with both heads. I'll probably use the V4B with the dually and the Sunn to the 810. I think both speakers need to be broken in as well so that should open things up a bit. I did notice that both amps at high volumes REALLY had the speakers jumping. Has me concerned about blowing them, but they are only 100w amps. Should I be concerned?

Supermoon and Shepard's End arrive Saturday and then I'm going to figure out how to make some tone recordings so I can get y'alls opinion.

Weekend is going to be shaged. Company is moving to a new 4.5mil facility and my boss is basically pushing for zero shutdown through the move. And I have a show Saturday... **** me.

THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE SETUP.
Precision-->Swing 66-->curly cable-->SUNN

Speaking of Sunn, still want, price drop not helping (now what can I sell...)

SUNN 2000s 1970 Black / Silver Face | Reverb

Switch the P for a thunderbird, and you've got the perfect setup ;)

Speaking of SUNN, it looks like SUNN 0))) are touring Australia next year. I've never been that into them but I figure I gotta see them, they are giants of the genre.

And speaking of guns (while I don't really have a horse in the race being in Australia), Ive always thought that the freedom of sending your kids to school or hanging out at uni without the risk of them or you being mowed down by a mentally deranged person with an AR15 greatly outweighs the freedom lost by not being able to keep a military-style arsenal under your bed.

I love my military arsenal. Lots of loud really fast.

Nuh uh. Everyone should play P-basses with flats through fliptop Ampegs. That is all. Nothing else is bass.

Don't forget you can always leave the amp at home it there PA support, after all if you can hear yourself and your drummer you are loud enough. Let the sound guy do his work. They are all excellent and well qualified.

Long shot, but if you decide to off one down the road for any reason, not limited to helping a brother rock a dual 2000s rig, let me know.

Didn't you also score a sweet natural Aria P copy recently?

BTW, the huge innocuous grin in that photo offsets the doominess of your beard.

In an ideal world. I hear what yer saying, and I don't wanna sound like some ball swinging knuckle dragging mouth breather gun nut, but in this country the horse is way out of the gate with regards to guns. The wrong people already have them, or can get them. Even responsible law abiding gun owners are often negligent or idiotic though. It's just too ingrained in our culture to keep a lid on it much I think, or pop a cap in it for that matter.

Really TB? Filtering guit a r d now? Who's feelings are we sparing today?

I carry a knife every single day. Thumb assist. Useful tool among other things.

Yeah, that one's in the arsenal. The P sounds great but it needs a new bridge (old one has razor sharp bits) and the screws on the tuning machines are shot. I've jammed it a bit and even recorded with it. The J has a similar rusty nails bridge, too. I could see BAs on both. The neck on this J is incredible, though. Not as thin & wimpy as other J necks I've tried yet fast and smooth. Probably the second best neck of my axes aside from my Ric 4003.

As for the smile, well, I'm just a happy guy. ;)

Guns: a scary reality currently, but nowhere as scary as the possible realities that unarmed populations have endured, and will again.

Bass: you guys ever get just STUCK? feeling so rutted and uninspired.

Kava: got some. Maybe it will fix the above!

Yeah I saw STP on the tour for their first album with Butthole Surfers opening up. It was on the grounds of an old abandoned amusement park I went as a kid next to this huge lake, probably the nicest area where I grew up.

I saw that same tour. Mohawk Park, Tulsa. I went for The Butts (seen them a half dozen times) but STP impressed me. Still think they were the best of the more popular NW bands of that era...moreso than Pearl Jelly or AIC, though I prefer early Nirvana, Mudhoney, Tad...
