What's spring flour? Also I always thought semolina flour was just Mexican grocery store way of saying flour, vs their more common corn based masa and such.

Is it the stretching of your arms that hurts? After I got the 1 2 4 fingering down bass in first position doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore. Kind of effing me up playing guitar now though as sometimes I play power chords with my pinky way up close to the neck. And even weirder was trying to play a short scale bass at Sam Ash, because you can't really do 1 2 4 in first position since it was so tiny and guitar like.

Different, but I've already gotten pretty used to it. Yes, the neck is bulkier, but I realize that that doesn't bother me much anymore, since I barely touch the back of the neck at all anymore (it's really just lightly cupped by the curve of my thumb). Given it's a v63, there's no binding for me to be bothered by (although, having played 4003s and Tele-basses a sharp corner doesn't bother me much either).

The main differences here are the sounds (obviously), but honestly, they aren't as far apart as I would have thought. I love how ganky the Rick is. The neck pickup solo'd is nice, especially with the tone rolled off, but given I normally play wide open, my preference is for the horseshoe wide open, or both pickups wide open. And really, the horsehoe solo'd is the closest to the Precision bass. But, to compare the two, the Rick, like I said, sounds ganky. It's almost a..rubbery sound. More like a rubber band. The Precision is more of a roar, a bit more low-mid heft in the voicing. This is all settings on the amp the same, vol 6, treb 10, bass 2, countour 10, bass boost off. Adjusting the EQ with the Rick to 5 on the bass and with the bass boost on really brings out the lows more on it. There's some stuff that just sounds right played on a Rick, and other stuff just sounds right on the P.

I'm sure as I settle in with it more I'll become more adjusted to the Rick as well, but for now, super glad I added it to the collection. It's a very strong addition, even if it won't displace the Precision in the long run. I'll need to do another A/B when I get new strings for both as well.

I like my 4003 wide open with "vintage pot" engaged on the bridge.

On my Chinabacker, I have the neck pup 2/3 vol, bridge pup (Delano) dimed and all tones dimed.

All that said, I usually use two basses per set for each band. In MDT, I have one in E stnd and one in Eb stnd. Then in HC I have one in C stnd and one in BEAD.

I used to have multiple army green Sovteks. Also had one of those Hiwatt theremins. Pretty fun toy, but that's about it IMO. Nice to mess with through a bank of pedals. I've never played a real theremin. I probably wouldn't buy another Hiwatt myself.

Nice score on the Ibby J @Pelham Bleu ! Many of those old MIJs are so awesome.

All the Ric talk has my GAS up, but I think my next purchase, if anything, will be an Arturia Microbrute analog synth.

I'm with @Bassic Playing--this month can go hug a nut. Should be a mellow slide out of 2015 but instead it's like everything is fever pitch. Work, home...lots of hectic stress. Plus we are moving. Monday. God how I hate that process. Feel like getting rid of everything that doesn't fit in a duffel bag.

Cool news on the kava biz, @Squanch72 ! One of these days I'll place an order.

Ever try the aturia? Or a korg micro synth? Curious what you know or find out. They seem similar price and look.

I am not of the opinion that it is TEMPORARY safety some people are after. myself included. And while I agree bad people will still find guns, lets at least be honest that countries where guns are more tightly controlled, while not entirely immune to gun violence, have a lot less of it. Yes, the Paris attacks claimed 129 lives, but they represent the vast majority of the deaths by firearms in France for the YEAR, while they barely scratch the surface for US deaths per DAY.

I like Ben Franklin, but he has been dead for 200 years. Time for a new model.

It's the tendonitis in the back of the left shoulder joint. The more I have to move my hand away from my center line (think of the follow through when you back hand your ho's), the worse it gets, so the short scale ameliorates that somewhat.
