So. Kid turned 21 last night got drunk and was going around the campus parking lot with an axe busting cars. Police told him to stop. He came at them. He was shot
Everyone I knows mad at the cops. I guess most times cops are wrong, and even this isn't the best: but still if you get trashed and start swinging an axe I'm a little less sorry for you.

Sat down today and finally got around to notating some stuff out, finishing up a few songs. It's been way too long, so it's nice to get back into it, really makes you learn a song in depth. Also started and finished transcribing Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited by The Move, which took way longer than I thought it would. Tabbing it would be super quick, but trying to get all the note values, shifting time signatures, and variations down is really time consuming.
Also, The Move just had some of the best bass tone at the time. I think they mostly used Precisions, but there's video of a Jazz Bass that looks like it had two Tele pickups set into it.

Exactly! I mean it's never good, but it's not like he was tagging cars and wouldn't drop his paint. He was swinging a gerdderm axe.
My friend who told me about this sides with me. But then we got in a separate argument about what people carry.
He always carries at least one "weapon" on his person, and has taken to wearing those weighted knuckle gloves in addition.
He thinks it's normal, but I told him its excessive and no heros wear beating gloves. No situation will you be in where you should need them. And if you are in said situation and manage to survive your bad choices in life, God forbid having to explain to the cops your 100% innocent when you're clearly set up to beat on people...

Right or wrong is for the living to sort out, don't put yourself in a situation where this is a reasonably possible outcome.
Couple months back a kid went nuts on shrooms, violently attacked 3 strangers, ran into traffic, then knocked a cop down a flight of stairs and went for his gun. Cop shot and killed him. Big protests and it's terrible that the kid was killed, but you knock a cop down some stairs nothing good is going to happen.
Fixed that for you.
Really though a flight of stairs can kill a person. That's assault with a dealt weapon IMO, and the falling person has a right to personal defense.
The badge is irrelevant.
I get so tired of it being a "cops vs. civilians" issue. Wish they'd just refer to it as "someone did something to provoke somebody who had the means to kill them." Then just treat it as justified or not and proceed from there. Occupation doesn't matter to me, circumstances do.

On the other hand, I had a friend who got crazy from too much weed. Like literally psychotic schizophrenic crazy, seeing demons and ghosts, losing his job, running around doing weird stuff, finally attacking people on the street for no reason at all. Had to be restrained by cops eventually, it took three officers to subdue him. Got locked in a psychiatric ward in jail for 3 months, detoxed, put on meds. They let him go eventually, he's doing pretty OK now, but I'm kind of scared to meet him after what I've seen him do.
So yeah, drugs aren't for everyone I guess.

Seems like there are tons of cop shootings lately. Some seem warranted, some don't. I'm not in those situations, so I can't judge. I'll say this: anybody who disregards what a cop says, and then gets closer to said cop while armed is risking their life. You listen when the cop tells you to do something, even if you don't want to. And ESPECIALLY if you are armed. Because if you're armed, and you don't listen to the instructions, the cop has a reasonable belief that you are physically dangerous and may take some steps to prevent you from harming something, someone, etc. Certainly don't ignore the cop and charge at him/her with a weapon. That's asking to be shot.
