two other groups of people i don't feel bad for are sky divers and bull fighters
My wife works for police. She was a dispatcher for 8 years. The amount of poopie police have to deal with is astounding, even in NZ where any murder at all is big news. I dont get the hatred for police that people have, even some of my friends think the police is like some criminal mafia cartel poopie.
Sadly about 90% of the news we see frontpage about America is mass shootings, police shootings or Donald trump.
I couldn't do law enforcement, not level headed enough.

True but i would get a kick out of a cop taking it too far and after investigation has to admit he harassed you over tea.I was bringing some yerba mate in to work, loose in a ziplock bag and thought man that could be mistaken for green way too easily. Imagine trying to explain that one to a cop, yeah right it is tea. Keep it in the packaging Joe.

My luck tends to heavily swing to the bad luck side of things. I almost got arrested for mistaken identity once. A guy was trying to arrest me because he thought my motorcycle was the dirt bike a kid was riding behind and through the parking lot of Gander Mountain in beautiful Scranton PA. It sucks being at the mercy of a dolt with a badge.
Yeah I'm pretty jazzed about that. I drug my feet getting tickets and ended up with a Sunday evening spot, so I'll be hiding from the internet starting Thursday.I shoulda thought to post this first thing this morning: Happy Star Wars Week!

The upside is my tickets are at an Adult movie theatre so beer will be flowing.
Cops lie for a living and especially when they stand to "profit" somehow.Unfortunately here in the States, many a popo are corrupt pieces of poopie. Not all of them certainly, but even a few bad apples make the whole bushel look bad.
My brother is a defense attorney with a track record of putting dirty cops away. He has countless stories of cops planting guns or drugs on to a suspect. Usually those suspects are drug dealers/known gang members that the police can't seem to catch with anything illegal. So they make something illegal.
Add that with the systematic racism in our country and drug laws that perpetuate that. For example, the 100:1 ratio. When Reagan was president, he signed into law a piece of legislation that established mandatory minimum 5 year sentences for cocaine possession. The 100:1 ratio established that to qualify for that mandatory sentence a suspect had to be caught with 100g of powder cocaine or 1g of crack. Now think about what types of people commonly use powder vs crack cocaine. 3.5 oz for powder gets 5 years or a gram of crack. A coupe years back Obama signed he fair sentencing act which reduced gat ratio to 18:1. Progress, but still we are comparing distribution quantity to personal use quantity with the latter primarily existing in low income minority communities. Institutionalized racism at its finest.
I have a lot of respect for the job and the authority within it, however that doesn't mean I respect the officer. If the officer is polite and has detained me for legitimate reasons I'm totally alright with it and look at as them doing their job. Unfortunately I am frequently searched illegally and detained illegally. I never get in trouble but it really gripes me that they can break the law as they see fit under the guise of "doing their job".
What really pisses me off is when I am harassed and illegally detained and searched or when I can tell that the officers are blatantly lying to issue a couple citations. Also the very few times I got popped, the officers made up a totally bogus story to make their illegal search sound legitimate. Unfortunately it then becomes their word against mine and those odds are heavily slanted.

I once had a cop straight up FAKE a positive drug hit on my car to search it. When it was proved to be faked every cop involved covered for him all the way up the chain. Another cop and his partner once blatantly lied on the stand to put my father at the scene of a crime that would've put him in jail for 10-30 years. They knew he wasn't there and involved but he was the solitary person arrested in a multi state roundup who was not getting a conviction. Those officers had a 99% conviction rate didn't want one to get off and ruin their rep. Luckily mt dad's attorney could prove my dad was at work 50 miles away at the time. The cops stuck to their lie! Makes me wonder how many of that 99% were innocent!
