I will agree though that pepper spray should probably have been first choice.
Is this the one with Alan Rickman as Hilly Kristal? Yeah, not bad. CBGB's AND Yankee Stadium were both gone by the time I moved to NY State. Bummers.
I never geeked out on Star Wars. I don't dislike them, I just think they are largely poorly written and I don't see the appeal. My dad made a big show of taking us to see the original Star Wars in a theater in 1977. I liked it fine (I was nine years old) but I remember thinking "Well, it wasn't as cool as Sinbad and the Eye of The Tiger or Logan's Run or Planet of the Apes sequels."
I did like Empire Strikes Back and still think that's the best film in the franchise. I mean, they are fun, I just never got fully on board. Much preferred Star Trek and Dr. Who. I am looking forward to the new one though. My wife and kids are into it and I think it'll be good fun.
You guys probably know, but George Lucas shamelessly (but admittedly) ripped off the samurai films of Kurosawa to get the plots and action for Star Wars--particularly the first two films. If you don't believe me, look up synopses of the films Hidden Fortress, Sanjuro and Yojimbo. Swap peasants for droids, add spaceships, replace samurai swords with light sabers and you get Star Wars.
When I was a kid, all my relatives just assumed I must be a huge Star Wars fanatic so for 4-5 years every Christmas and birthday I got inundated with Star Wars figurines. I used to take them to a field near my house, melt them, and bury them. I distinctly remember melting together 3 or 4 stormtroopers to make one multi-limed mutant stormtrooper.
If I had known back in '77-'83 what they'd end up being worth, I would have kept all of them in the original packaging and could retire off them now. I mean, I had loads of them. I don't think there were any from the first 2 or 3 editions of them that I lacked. Totally destroyed them all.
I got no love for cops (or authority figures in general) and yes, plenty of them are corrupt @$$holes. But they also have to deal with a lot of terrible crap and complete lowlifes. I have a good friend who's a cop and he tells me he would never hang out with any of his colleagues because they are predominantly power hungry, gun-happy morons who revel in harassing citizens.
But I have little sympathy for someone who comes towards a cop wielding an ax or other weapon.
That sums up my first reactions to these situations. Often times I find out there is more the the story like the guy was shot 100 times and the police fired 100000 rounds next to a kinder garden or something ********.

Someone told me if you start dressing police like soldiers they start acting like soldiers.

Interesting perspective. In one way we( as in Americans) want our police to act like soldiers. We want them to follow orders or at the very least rules.
Also I detect a bit of suspicion towards soldiers. Is it culturally typical to villianize soldiers in Poland?(not an accusation just idle curiosity)
For the past 30 years here in America we've worked hard to have a better public opinion of soldiers. Not necessarily because they deserve it(though most do) but because at one point we treated our own soldiers very badly and damaged a whole generation of veterans.
Now we just blame the politicians.

I read an English article a couple years ago about a suburb in uproar about police actions. It went on to say Post 911 police of most western countries have altered officer training and it's much more paramilitary, in addition all citizens are to be treated as suspicious and potentially hostile.

An interesting point again. Although our prison guards are part of the police force, I think the jobs are totally different and shouldn't be staffed with the same people.
IMO again, I look at prison guards as someone whose task is rehabilitation focused on subjective solutions. As opposed to a police officer as someone whose task should be impartial and objective.
Still we staff them the same way and generally pay each crap, so its no wonder a measurable portion are opportunistic criminals themselves.
And does anybody DOOM anymore? Things got heavy in here...
Last Monday night I jammed with a drummer, it went pretty well. At the end of the night he said we should jam again this week, probably Wednesday. I emailed him yesterday to confirm or find out when he was free. Guy was all over emailing me back in minutes when we set the first jam up, haven't heard anything back yet. Countdown to business as usual?

Hell Yeah we do. My band released our first demo on bandcamp the other day. I think I posted it here already though. Centaurustulsa.bandcamp.com we will have physical copies this week I'm pretty pumped about. Not super doom but it is metal as hell.
