Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Damn work taking up all my talkbass time. New job, though, so the money is coming in.
Catapult recording begins soon. We have enough material for an album and a split. Should be pretty rad.
Dustern recording also probably in not that long.
Switched out the Big Muff Pi on my board for the Bass Big Muff my drummer brought. Been mainly using it in Dustern as a boost pedal (using the "dry" setting). Might use it in Catapult, too, though.
I want another Rickenbacker. I am in the market for a white one, if anyone sees one up for sale or has one.

When I have this issue with a dog I push it away assertively. Not violently of course but the dog is definitely relocated.
Yesterday I played a vintage SG custom with P90's and an oil finish. Hot guitar, "santana at woodstock" era I was told.
Dogs are pack animals. Someone has to be the Alpha, and the hierarchy needs to be understood. Right now, you might not be the Alpha in your pack of two, and if you are, it may not have been established that humans are above dogs. Trust me it isnt about being mean to your dog, but it is about setting boundaries, and being the dominant actor in your interactions.
My first semester of college I came back to my dog having picked up tons of horrible habits from my sister's dogs. My mom had been dropping him off at her house for a few days at a time because she wasn't going to be home. Barking, pulling on the lead while walking, bathroom issues, no respect for space. I guess all that is fine with small dogs, (it isn't) but for a big dogs it can be a real problem. Structure fixed a lot of it, but it all started with re establishing dominance.

I went for a run yesterday when it was around 3 degrees. I know winter running pretty well and was bundled up but still froze my ass off.
I have some house repairs & projects coming up so been in a selling mood. Sold one of my OBC410s locally for a good price ($500) last night. I just never used both 410s since getting a fridge. The sale seemed like a good fit; it went to a younger guy who'd been looking for an Orange cab but didn't want to fork over sky-high prices for brand new. I also sold off my Wizard Fuzz to one of our lucky S/D threadmates.

Askrere- get thee to a dog training/obedience class post-haste. What everyone else says about pack mentality is true. Your dog knows that you are not in charge, that needs to be changed. Dogs need training and structure otherwise stuff like this happens.

I had to use some extreme methods to reform my dog. There are a few ways that packs use to establish dominance.
Who eats what and when
Who bites who
Who humps who
Who urinates on who
Now im not suggesting you act like a dog, but you have to think like a dog. For me, food control was a very useful tool. You control the food. The amount, and the timing of when they eat. You have to show them that you are the one that dishes out the food.
Did you end up trying this with a ported cabinet?
I wonder if the wooden feel had to do with the combination with a sealed cabinet?
Maybe the head is overdamped?
Couldn't fall asleep last night, my mind was racing and bouncing back and forth between my impending Maximal Drone thingy and what I will do with it, and not having a job/career/money flow and what am I gonna do about that...but thats an entirely different subject.
Ive been getting more into drone/loop/noise stuffs lately, not so much sunn O))) style with guitars and such, more electric synth based. Hence the impulse purchase of the Maximal Drone thingy. Well with that thingy Im gonna start my own one man drone project, which Ive kinda been doing with my TGWN thing but thats not something Id ever replicate live, thats personal in the moment capture, once and done stuff. What I want to do with this project provide live Frequency Therapy...
This is what really what I was thinking about last night, conceptually what is Frequency Therapy?
It is to sonically align a soul, hit the resonant frequency and open mind, body, and spirit with audible and physical sonic waves. Meditation through sound.
Galactic Hatchet aims to do this somewhat, but we also riff. I want to dive deeper and solely focus on this, I want to bombard people with solid dense frequencies, vibrate their eyeballs, numb their mind, hopefully making them feel something, anything.
Oh also, thought about what effects/rig I should use with the Maximal Drone to obtain such dense frequency soakage. My plan...Max Drone > some sort of fuzz > Cathedral > TR2 > Backhand > Ditto > Bifet > 800 Booster > 810TX and Folded 18, something like that outa do it. When I thought about what fuzz would be best for this all noise, a fuzz I got rid of a long time ago popped into my mind, the Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer. That uncontrollable sonic beast would be perfect, all it did was make dense fuzz noise. So I said fvck it, and went, found and bought a cheap OG version on reverb. So Ill have everything I need to make this possible.
Name I'm still pondering, a play off of the word frequency, something like FreaQ? I don't know.
But with all this free time until I find a job, Im gonna make this a real thing.

Anyone interested in my Epi Thunderbird Classic IV Pro with hardshell case? Neckthru model with the Gibson pickups. $450 shipped in the CONUS. Don't want to sell it, but finances are tight and I have to reup our dental insurance by the end of the month. Figured I'd give doombros a shot before putting it up in the classifieds or on Reverb. Still pretty much like new, a couple very minor dings and the case has some white streks/scuffs in spots on the vinyl. Recently setup for D standard tuning with some Rotosound wound nickel strings (without the red silk).
Me too, unless things improve drastically this year I may have to make some considerably more painful sales.

I control the food, say wait and then let her go for it. She doesn't mind if I take it or put my hand over it. I've also started eating before her, even if just a bite of something, so she isn't first. No scraps of mind until done. She doesn't beg, just stares.
She does pull and tries to get though doors first.
I do bite back. But her sharp puppy bites have mostly turned to soft mouthings when they occur. Not cool, but at least it's "harmless".
definitely needs work, but she's better than she was in someways as she ages. When she wants something be it a scheduled meal, poop/pee or play she runs over and paws me and does a little stretch dance followed by a weird grunting then a yawn ending in a squeal. She'll do that endlessly so I ignore the food time ones and if she gets "dressed" to go outside I'll take her out. If she tries to play I wait until she calms down and brings a toy or I initiate.
Main thing is the fact if I'm next to someone she squeezes by me, gets on her side then extends her legs to try and physically push the other person away from us. I'll shove her off or away, then she bounds back after a bit. If I crate her she never barks, just makes a weird sobbing noise until she pouts herself to sleep.
The leash pulling also gets annoying... She's largely grown out of chasing stuff aside from bikes, skateboards and squirrels. still for a 31 pound chunk she can tear it up. She's broken two collars and bent the steel of several leashes.
Also last not exactly a behavioral issue, but if she wants she can escape anything. I have the smallest harness other than chihuahua size and she can squeeze out like Houdini when she gets it in her mind. Vet muzzled her during a visit and she got it off and the vet couldn't figure out how and had to sedate her.
Isn't she a border collie / Australian Shepard mix? That's probably 80% of your problem.
