I'm not normally a pedal guy outside of a wah, phaser, and some basic fuzzes, but I've been looking for a Dallas Rangemaster clone and stumbled upon this Australian outfit, [This invalid link has been removed]. Check out the Sonic Violence Bass demo soundclip (also the Dragonaut one). I think I need that, it sound gnarly. It's also a big fat pedal, and I'm a sucker for inconveniently large pedals.

The Holy Mountain isn't a slouch either, sounds pretty cool.

The guy that makes the Midnight stuff posts over on the ILF Doom Room...cool guy, cool gear. I want the Holy Mountain an put it in front of my 800 Booster, then Ill have a pseudo SS OR800.

the instrumental project is going to put a record out on trippy vinyl with our artwork, i'm thinking it's gonna have the punchy metal song from the eyeforsound sessions and a couple of the newer ones that don't seem to suck in the least, attached is a pic of two flies, because they represent various states of decay, i found out that if i practice only every other day that i play better, i write better, and my hands aren't kinda puffy/sensitive i guess, getting older kinda blows, or it could be the insane amounts of coffee i'm drinking again

if you need to use this pic for an album cover let me know, cause i'm broke AF yo

Been feeling chorusy lately. Anyone try an MXR Analog Chorus? I usually use the digital chorus in my Bass Whammy. The two settings (Shallow/Deep) sound good but they're not tweakable.

Looking for a way to practice with headphones, but get a cab-like sound. Any cheap DIs for this? There's a DOD 285 that might work, but I don't know what's what when they start using hi/lo impedance terminology. I want a DI for guitar that does a decent cab sim and can be used with headphones. I have an XLR to TRS adapter already, so that's not an issue. Just don't know what to search for or if there are any "standards" for this sort of thing. Thanks as always, Doom Bros.!

Having grown up in a number of churches, I fantasize about opening a bar in an old church.

You could call the bar "The Thirteenth Step."

Here in tulsa there is a recording studio built in a church.

I've recorded there, and been present at several sessions over the years. Long time back though. I briefly had a guitar teacher in Tulsa who was friends with JJ Cale, Clapton, George Harrison. Only ever met Cale, but that teacher showed me as a young kid around to some pretty cool stuff.

Redboxed Bone Tomahawk last night. Fun horror western flick.

Yeah, not bad. During the scene where they go to work on that deputy, my 16-year-old daughter said "That was probably the most brutal ting I've ever seen in a movie."

So I have a tendency to taste smells, and certain words to me have tastes/ideas.

Ex: bugles chips taste like burnt hair. Never eaten burnt hair, but I've "tasted" it.

Ex 2: the name Margaret tastes like raspberry yogurt.

So I'm visiting some family on my more eccentric side, and I make mention of this, and it's most likely synesthesia. I go on to describe other variants of this "disorder" and one is the ability to see music as colors. My uncles a really good musician, and he's like "oh I do that, you don't?"... Apparently every chord is a color to him. So like a song could be A E Fm A or red, black, green, red. He's never thought anything of it, but I was showing him, apparently if you focus and harness that you can gain perfect pitch by using colors as your guide. Very cool.

I experience a touch of this now and then, unbidden. Sudden noises especially cause my vision to black over and become overlaid with shifting colorful patterns. This happened even before I remained on various hallucinogens for pretty much a solid 10 years, so it's natural to me. I know a couple of people who have this in a much more profound sense. It also seems to be associated at times with autism and asperger's, so watch yourself.

That's killer. My grandpa was the only musician in my family. Broke ass trailer dwelling alcoholic white trash, though I barely knew him God rest his soul.

He gave me all of his remaining gear. A 115 tube amp that mostly functions, a small body short scale POS acoustic and a hollowbody electric all from the late 50s early 60s, all from the Sears catalogue. I'll keep them forever. He smoked 3 packs a day and couldn't hold a steady hand to save his life but he could play a harmonica melody while playing guitar flawlessly after not playing and being mostly dissociated for almost 20 years.

This man is my hero.

And say no to turning 40 too!

Thank shag that week is over. I got a date with tacos, painkillers and pbs documentaries. Also probably sleeping on the couch. Exhausted.

First show in the works, that's exciting. Also, was referred to a new arborist who's rates are significantly lower than the last guy, which is good news.

NAMM show next week should be fun.

Glad you posted this. I'm really enjoying Cold Black River. Those dudes have got a great focus on groove. Still that bass NEEDS more definition in tone. Homie has no note definition. Want to blame the cab but the 610HLF I noodled on wasn't that mudstrong.

Hey guys. I am going to play my first live show in less than a month. I just got this amp: Acoustic B450MK2. I had to sell my car to buy it. I live in an apartment and I can't play around with the rig too much, I need any tips on EQ settings for a small venue thats holds 80 people. I will be using a Warwick with active j pickups.

I was thought to be austistic/ass burgery as a kid. Turned out not to be so, but in 20 years maybe the testing is better and I'm just very mildly afflicted. One of the girls I've been dating recently thinks that's the case.

He doesn't crank that CL nearly as much as he could (should?). More volume and a bit of knob twisting could get him more clarity.

Spending saturday doing pre-school BS and figuring out how to display sales spreadsheets on my Nexus tablet so I don't have to haul my work laptop around at the tradeshow.

Haven't used the tablet in several months, EVERYTHING needs to be updated. Nothing difficult to do, just time consuming. Oh well, Hawkwind is a good distraction.

in the search for a record press place i just realized via facebook that my friend Matt works at gotta groove records in cleveland and they're doing some pretty sweet clear, marbleized, tie-dyed, and electrical looking vinyl for big labels, indie labels, and grassroots folks
