AmpZilla Update: The beast lives minus the presence control and boost circuit. Ran it through it's paces on the bench, and was absolutely blown away with what we saw. Puts out a smidge over 400 watts CLEAN. At full square wave, 625 FREAKING WATTS. Hooo-leeee-sheeeet. Brought it to the practice space, plugged it into my two 215's, and was able to play it for a short bit. We have a filing cabinet in the space, that had a pair of scissors on it. I hit an open B, and the scissors literally jumped up off the cabinet over an inch, danced around and fell off within a second. Unreal amount of power this thing has. Tone was unreal, the designer, Joe Frantzen, got that poopie dialed in like a pro, gobs of headroom, but plenty of gain on tap. Very versatile EQ, has both pre bass and post bass EQ so you can dial it back in the pre, send it through the preamp, then boost the bass afterwards. Result, nice gain on the mids/highs, but a cleaner, clearer, more focused low end, due to less gain in the lows. PERFECTION. This thing is going to slay.
BUT THEN....
A KT90 had a very spectacular infant sudden-death syndrome failure. Pins 2-3 shorted, and with 700+ volts on the plates... Well, ZAP, FLASH, BANG, POOF. Completely vaporized BOTH 100ohm pseudo-center tap resistors on the heater supply (due to seeing 706.3v instead of 6.3v). And I mean vaporized, we couldn't even find the remnants, the leads where still there, but no resistors to be found. In turn, it took a couple other small parts out and made some black marks from the vaporization, but after a little re-work, should be just fine.

Im glad your amp sounds killer, and am sorry for the tube death. One of the biggest things that would keep me from using anything but a KT88 or 6550 for a big amp is tube reliability.
88's and 6550's are definitely stout, but I'd call 90's just as stout. KT120's or KT150's, definitely not! In fact, regardless of what the spec sheets say, we've seen 90's produce more power than 120's or 150's even. Out of over a few dozen KT90's, this is the first one he's had fail, some have been in use for years straight. Any tube can have a factory defect that does the old pin 2-3 trick. Had an 88 do that on me once in a Rockerverb 100. I get you though, good to go with "tried and true", but for us, we're going more of the breaking-new-ground route, trying something new that hasn't been done, with the understanding that there will inherently be some roadblocks along the way. Tis the nature of innovation I guess. Gotta pay to play, as they say. ha! Thanks man!
So glad I pinched this LP from my Father before I moved out. He ditched all his other records without giving me a heads up.
I'm not an expert - but I know that there are some jazz p/u pairs where the bridge p/u is wider than the neck one. Then there are other pairs where both are the same length. Can you measure your routs and see if they're the same or not?
The slightly larger size is for the bridge position. The 4" models @askrere mentioned might be for 5 strings.

I'm on day 3 of recovery, had a serious problem with warts on my hands and feet so on Thursday i went in for laser treatments.
Tips of my two plucking fingers have been completely burned away, massive holes on hands and feet where other tissue was burned and excised. Looks like I've been hitting the krokodil. So I've been sitting on my ass for two days popping vicodin. Bored as hell.
Big shout out to my primary care doc that told me to ignore the warts and they'll go away. That's patently false. The laser doc and his team were great and I'm happy to be rid of those goddamned warts.
Anyway, that's my disgusting story.

My modded '62 RI is a lot of fun, I like having the independent volume and tone controls. However, the originals had a cap in the circuitry to separate the controls, but it rolled off the high end a bit. The reissues don't have this cap stock, which means the controls interact. I completely isolated mine by essentially wiring two entirely separate circuits into the bass, each pickup to its own output.
Believe me i tried every shaging home remedy and over the counter solution out there. If any of that worked i wouldn't have opted for an extremely painful treatment that involved burning and cutting away large amounts of tissue.
As for photos. I just spent an hour changing bandages so maybe tomorrow.

Another Mountain binge the last two days. So heavy.
Yeah, I have Climbing! and Nantucket Sleighride on vinyl, great albums. Between Felix, Jack Bruce, and Andy Fraser, I really feel the need for an old EB of some sort eventually. I was mucking about with the settings on my Sunns the other day while playing Mountain and Grand Funk to get some bassier sounds than I normally go for, really thinking from now on I should run one head and cab at T:10/B:2/C:10 and the other at T:2/B:10/C:0 to get the best of both worlds as far as bright clarity and low end thunder.
