Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

My dad put himself through school playing guitar in wedding bands. You know the band would clear $500-700 a night, and that was back in the 70's. Wish there was that much money in live music today. That said, I know where I get my "If you want something, go earn it" attitude. If he wants 40 gibsons, and his retirement plan is guitars, more power to him. (as long as he lets me check something out of the library now and then...)

Got my cabling all done for the back of the mostly harmless. Think it all looks prettyou good and stays snug up inside the box. I wish it didn't have to go so close to the speaker power cables, but due to the length of the mostly harmless that's the only way they can go.

How are you running that output from the amp? Two channels in, I see one out? If you are sending two signals, you should have two outputs.

There's been a pretty cheap Windsor on the local CL. Think they wanted $240 for it.

Not high gain enough for my needs Im afraid.

Last song of GHs full length is very close to being finished structure/riff wise. Might have a listenable for you tomorrow if I can find the right usb cord...forgot it at the space grrr!!!

Once thats done, we have the basic structure/riffs done for all 6 songs, its then on to figuring out how all the sudtlties of effects, tones, extra noises, spacy shvt, acoustic guitar parts will fit in. We have big ideas for the studio, that should be figured out before we get there.

Success fully ran a mini HENGE, 2 amps 2 cabs and all 10s, tonight which made the good recording we got. Maybe not as loud or as "can you feel now?" as a normal 2 amp, 3 cab half HENGE configuration, but I was getting some real good tonez, especially now that weve tuned up to D standard.

But heres a rundown...DOD250 (always on as Al intended) > TU2 > Hex Cabs PHASE WIZARD > A) WUMBO MUFF > MACE > 610 B)Bear Amps Lucifuzz > MXR Carbon Copy > Earthquaker Devices Ghost Echo > Lone Wolf Backhand > DOD Studio Bifet > Tuxedo Bass 300 > tweed 810TX

HalfHENGE adds another cab, folded 18, to the B rig...and comes in 2 levels: Monolith and Henge

Full HENGE adds the Vulcan through my 218 too that, so 3 heads 4 cabs.

Right now I'm just running it out to one speaker. My understanding is that as long as my pre amp volume is off and that channels volume is off then it won't do any damage. I've been getting some ground hum from channel one and have been trying to figure out where it's coming from. Appears to be the output jack may have a bad solder. Hoping to crack it open and look in the next couple days.

I wouldnt run two signals to a bridged amp.

The amps not bridged I just don't have one output hooked up. So I have 770ish watts running out just one side of the power amp at an 8 ohm load. The other sides not hooked up. You may be right but everything I've read says this should be fine. But i will check again. It's only temporary anyway.

This is what I'm rolling back to war with.

Dimarzio Model P -> Fulltone Bass Drive -> BYOC Large Beaver -> Sunn 2000s clone -> Yorkville YBX1510 cab

GFS Lil' Killer rail humbucker -> Ibanez Weeping Demon -> Tuner (split)
->EHX Nano POG -> Big Red amp -> Sovtek 2x12

(From tuner split)-> BYOC Parametric OD (Pearl OD-5 clone) -> Marshall 4104 2x12 combo

The Big Red amp started life as a Traynor YBA1A mk ii clone, now modded with Marshally cascaded high gain / low gain dual inputs. I use the high gain of course :)
