Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

PSA

Folks keep a tight reign on your debit cards.
Wife's card got swiped at work. Found $175 in $10-$30 increments over the last 24hrs since it's been gone.
Online account access made identifying fraudulent charges a snap.

Still want to punch somebody.

So where do criminals shop in Washington?

And isn't she a vet tech? Sucks it happened, but I hope someone trained their pet to pickpocket.

So I have a tendency to taste smells, and certain words to me have tastes/ideas.

Ex: bugles chips taste like burnt hair. Never eaten burnt hair, but I've "tasted" it.

Ex 2: the name Margaret tastes like raspberry yogurt.

So I'm visiting some family on my more eccentric side, and I make mention of this, and it's most likely synesthesia. I go on to describe other variants of this "disorder" and one is the ability to see music as colors. My uncles a really good musician, and he's like "oh I do that, you don't?"... Apparently every chord is a color to him. So like a song could be A E Fm A or red, black, green, red. He's never thought anything of it, but I was showing him, apparently if you focus and harness that you can gain perfect pitch by using colors as your guide. Very cool.

I guess my version would let me be a very descriptive sommelier...

It's never dumb to over think.

I do believe it's a 4 ohm head. So you are allowed to do that. There's just two 8 ohm outs so you can do 4 with two cabs.

Wait for someone else to confirm/google the Hartke sales literature.

Yea, I'm thinking I should be able too, but there seems to be different issues with tube vs solid state, and this is a hybrid. I'm just wondering if anything different needs to be done into a 4 ohm cab.

Hopefully @CL400Peavey will chime in and shool my ignorant butt

Soooo, this a dumb question, but its honestly never come up before so better to be safe than sorry:

My new HA3500 has two outputs on the back. They both say 8ohm. If I plug one into a 4 ohm cab, will anything explode? What's the go here? Is it only plausible to use it with 8 ohm cabs?

4 ohms minimum! The amp doesn't care how you get there so you're all good.

Stringing when I get back to dfw. Stereo short scale sludge here I come

Sorted out some sloppy wiring on the Altec and got it humming again. When I re-located the controls to the "front" of the chassis it was a tight squeeze and there were a couple of components shorting out. Got everything cleaned up and re-routed so I won't have this problem again. Just gave it a 45 minute workout and it seems to be working fine now. LOUD with guitar. Setup was Lotus LP > Homebrew RAT > ART Tube MP > Altec > Behringer 1x15. Heavy and loud as balls. Now I'm thinking that I need a 4x12...

First off, what is that paisley case and where can I get one?

That is a PRS that has humbucker made on the original Gibson hand winding machine, so it was in the Gibson room. Pretty sick guitar. I also played a vintage ES-339, makes even my sh1tty playing sound good. Not only will I never afford one, I doubt I'll find one in that condition.

That's killer. My grandpa was the only musician in my family. Broke ass trailer dwelling alcoholic white trash, though I barely knew him God rest his soul.

He gave me all of his remaining gear. A 115 tube amp that mostly functions, a small body short scale POS acoustic and a hollowbody electric all from the late 50s early 60s, all from the Sears catalogue. I'll keep them forever. He smoked 3 packs a day and couldn't hold a steady hand to save his life but he could play a harmonica melody while playing guitar flawlessly after not playing and being mostly dissociated for almost 20 years.
