saw All Them Witches last night with the wife at the intimate Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. It was great, we were right up front and center. Sounded WAY better than when they opened for The Sword at the somewhat larger Club Red last fall. Of course this time it was almost all stage sound - amps and drums, and not much PA.
Here's a shot of Charles Michael Parks, Jr. and his amazing Rickenbutchered bass.

Opener L.A. Witch was also enjoyable. Lackadaisical female garage rock with some nice bass tones.

In totally undoom news, I was listening to Elton John's 11/17/70 album last night for the first time and was totally blown away by how much swagger their cover of Get Back has. Dee Murray rips, there's some seriously fast lines earlier in the song, and then he drops into this utterly funky groove. This is the remixed version, which for reasons that remain obscure had an octave effect applied to the bass and extra echo applied to the vocals.

except when you plug into both inputs it balances th signal between the two inputs...they aren't true 2 channels...

Trips me out how the volcanic soil from the different islands change the color of the ground root. Never had such a heady root from Vanuatu, usually Vanuatu root is usually more body relaxing feeling. Almost as strong as the Fiji Waka, almost. I may have to branch out to two kinds of kava.

Spent most of the day updating my resume and making a modified one for music stores...Theres an opening for online sales at the most bluez lawyer local store thats basically just down the street from my house, literally like a 10 min bike ride away. Really crossing my fingers my obsessive knowledge of Peavey and other gear helps me out here, cause this is would be a perfect job!!!

Also, tested out the mini Fuzz. It's definitely a muff and it sounds pretty green russian-ish. Pretty low gain for a muff, and less "Rude" than the real green russians that I've heard in person. It's a bit more smooth and refined, which can be a good thing. Played the Lotus LP through it into the AC20 and got QOTSA-ish tones, though admittedly the Ampeg probably has a lot to do with that. Like a muff, there's a bass boost on the left hand side of the tone knob, but I think it actually has more of a bass boost than other GR muffs I've heard. Haven't tried it with bass yet but I'll do that tomorrow night. Pretty damn good for a $20 tiny Chinese fuzz.

Went to an Indian restaurant and they had $1 sweet paan. Figured ok it's like naan duh.

Nope it's like betel nut mixed with anise and honey. Freaky tasting very heady concoction you chew and spit or swallow (twss). Tasted like antique stores and felt like you drank two espressos and a beer.

Oh nah, while that would be nifty, ill just dirty up and boost the Jazz side to compete with the massive clean the p pickup provides.

Btw do you have any songs or riff clips up on your bandcamp that have a good flanger bit to check out?

Its my old MIJ Boss Flanger set for a pretty fast sweep for more of a chorusy effect. The slow sweep is the MACE's built in phaser. IME phasers are better if you want that slow even sweep, flangers set slow will have weird quirks and chirps.

I SO thankful kava made it to the mainland states though probably unavoidable since it is produced in Hawaii. Doesn't New Zealand have weird legal issues with it? Like you can only have so much of it or something strange like that. I know of a guy from New Zealand on the kava forums who puts together weekly kava circles there but not sure which island he is on.
I used to want to retire in Florida or Arizona but now I am thinking Fiji or Tonga lol.

Anyone else dig the series Bloodline? What a fun black sheep of the family movie. Totally making me miss living in Florida though. Ben Mendelsohn plays the Danny character perfectly. He even has the twisted weird body movements of a drug abuser down to a T. Spent a lot of time with the super sweet but black sheep of my family, RIP, while living in Florida, so the show really takes me back to those times. Only one letter off, his name was Donny instead of Danny. Great show IMO. Since it is on Netflix Instant I am sure it probably got cancelled already.

i believe it does have odd issues regarding importing but it can be bypassed for cultural reasons if i recall correctly. no issue with use but you obviously can't drive on it haha.

watched that last week! apparently the second season is in the works. fantastic cast. reminds me of visiting Florida as a kid.

love seeing this pop up on my facebook feed. highly excited to be opening for them.

Thanks! Well your use is interesting as I find Flangers generally one dimensional and metallic. That said kinda dropped my interest as I want slowwww.

Think my joyo trem will be my modulation along with a bassballs variant. Bluebeard > tremolo > bassballs

One of those shows I really liked, pounded through almost all of it in a day and then got busy and forgot to finish it. Then i can't remember it well enough to continue, but haven't been away long enough to rewatch fully and not be dulled by the total recap. Season 2 time I'll restart it probably.

Bad flangers are metallic and one-dimensional, good ones are thick, chewy and awesome. That being said, I find the BF2 to be better on non-distorted bass.
