Nah ill stick with a quad of tubes. 200+ watts should be plenty. And if i really need more I want to add a slave out to run it with my 800 Booster. 200+ tube watts and 420ish old school SS watts should be able to crush the world.
It's pretty cool, need to use my ISP decimator I think if I'm gonna hit it full tilt with the DOD 250.
Do you right the songs for your band on guitar and switch to bass?

Indeed people always try and help me carry it, but I have to tell them it's easier if they don't.
When you say rewired, do you mean a few mods? Or you actually want someone to physically rewire e v e r y s i n g l e c o m p o n e n t??
Never been to a tech, but I'd assume even easy tweaks aren't cheap. Though usually changes if any are just removing or swapping a few caps.
The number 1 thing I've heard that separates a bass tube amplifier from guitar is the transformers. IIRC that's the most expensive part of any tube amplifier.
Caps can help a preamp, but poweramp caps aren't much help without the bigger tranny.

Oh yea, but if the mace is like my rockmaster its got massive trannies with Adam's apples n all. Also yea... Not cheap at all.

Saying completely rewire is an exaggeration, I just mean I want no part untouched, a full restoration, have it tweaked for absolute crushage and highest performance possible, I want a custom/boutique/"Dunwich" amp in a Peavey Tuxedo.
I don't want to turn da MACE into a straight up bass amp, I use it for my highs. Im just looking for what askrere said, maybe some removing or swapping of a few caps in the preamp, like moving the freq points in which the tone controls control to a low freq. I don't really need more bass, I just want to be able to control it better. Like I know in PVY VTMs theres a bright cap that if you cut out, it takes a lot of harshness out and you get a more meaty fullness.
Researching some common mods people do to MACEs and most guit-ards are saying its too bassy and muddy so they're all trying to brightening it up...HAHA and everyone plays with a pair of tubes out to lower the watts, PANSIES I SAY!!!
I saw a premier guitar article a few months back where someone wrote in wanting to permanently mod their Fender Studio Bass down to 50W or something. So the tech/writer guy responded with a long involved process to irreversibly modify the amp. JUST BY A shagING BASSMAN AND SELL THE STUDIO TO SOMEONE THAT WANTS A 200W AMP. Sheesh.

Who wouldn't want a 200 watt bassman? That is like the holy grail for pedal pushers.
I didn't understand it either. I even made an account so I could comment on the article - if you want a 50W amp there's tons of options from Fender. Why anyone would go to the time and expense of permanently modding a rare amp like the Studio Bass is beyond me.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Someone could take all the money you throw at him and do very little especially if your not aware or looking inside for yourself. Be thankful they said no for now is my thought, shows they care.
Really there's the clean up/tune up which may or may not be necessary. Then the custom aspect. Which might be more time and trouble than it's worth to most guys. A few cap changes maybe, but if they have to build custom boards, and retrofit the entire thing and still match the asthetics and keep it sounding "peavey" it might be more than most are capable of, or their times better spent getting new customers rather than charging you the price of a used car to alter a working amp and reinventing the wheel so to speak.
Whatever path you find, hope it works out! I assume it's killer though as is or modded.
But it is broke, it came with no power tubes, no handles, no metal corners, looks like it was taken apart at some point because the quick connects weren't put back together. Guy I got it from said he saw it power up when he went and bought it but that guy kept the tubes, and apparently it blows fuses. Sooooo I will fix it...and thats why Im looking for the right guy to do it, the place I just dropped the MACE off at or the main amp tech in the area aren't the right guys for the job, they probably wouldn't even touch it. There is a couple guys I'm talking with, one guy I know here in MKE made custom amps under Space Race Amps, and even made an amp for Matt Pike at one point. And 2 guys in Madison, one being Bongzillas go to amp tech and the other being none other that our very own @Satyrnine.

I doubt it would need much tweaking beyond getting it functional. I wonder if some techs are reluctant to work on it because it's a Peavey in-house design and not a 9th generation fender or marshall clone. I'd just get it up and running and see how it sounds before making plans to modify it.
