Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Just made my first trip (nay, pilgrimage) to a local electronics shop I never knew existed until recently. Makes want to go full DIY for all my stuff. At least make cables dirt cheap. Wish I was better at soldering, as I really feel like making something now. Maybe a boost? I don't know, something simple.

Another practice as a 3 piece last night, we have a show in six weeks and we've been slacking on practice. One guitarist is just slammed with work and family stuff so he's not been able to be there as much as he (and the rest of us) would like. We hope he's still on board, but we can't just wait around either. So, the plan is to come up with a set, rework songs for the power trio format and push to get ready. Last night was a bit rough but encouraging. Luckily we still have the guitarist that sings.

Drummer bought a Zoom H4N and we've experimenting with placement - got some pretty decent results with that last night so hopefully we'll have at least a practice space demo out there before too long. I think having a lack of material for folks to listen to has been holding us back.

I don't think this is always the case. Depending on the music, it may or may not be. Catapult wouldn't be able to do a lot of the stuff we do if we were only a three piece.

I've been spending all of my time on Organ related forums. Gonna pick up the Hammond this weekend, super stoked. Figuring out how to rig in a line out so I can run the thing into my Sunns, and starting to look at Leslie replica pedals. The Ventilator is sweet, but not $500 sweet. Gotta keep scouring that used market. I've been meaning to take up some keys for years, so this is a good excuse, even if it's just for sketching out parts and writing.

Looks to be in pretty decent condition, and since a LOT of it is mechanical, I'm hoping at most it needs some cleaning, oiling, and maybe some new tubes.
