Any input on the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe? I have the DOD Deep Freeze and have no complaints whatsoever, but have always wondered about the BCD. Got one used in the area. Worth it for an occasionally used effect?

There's a DOD like Milkbag that's a strong chorus, DFA1979 uses it for its stereo out.

It's a DOD chorus, milk-ice-box-bag, some name like that. Death from above 1979 bass player uses it for its stereo out feature.

Ah, you mean the Ice Box (guitar) or Deep Freeze (bass) chorus pedals. They're the same circuit, but one is bass-optimized. The Milkbox is a DOD compressor. I have all those pedals, and love them all. What I'm asking is this: would the MXR be a noticeable improvement over my Deep Freeze? Or should I keep my money?

Hey, can I field some pedal questions? New band calls for a dirty constant bass tone, and the distortion on my Acoustic 360 has been doing well, but I feel like I'm running my speakers through the ringer. Currently running the 360's distortion a bit past noon (perfect grindy overdrive) with bass and mids turned up fairly high to sit well in the mix, Joyo compressor always on with the mildest of boost.

I'm starting to think I'd benefit from that Fdeck HPF to get more bang for my buck power-wise and not damage or overexert my speakers while still getting the lows I need. Alot of you guys use that, right? Is it the last pedal in your chain before the amp? How much does it actually benefit it if you have the lows on your amp turned up anyway? And if your amp has a detailed low-end EQ (like the sliders on the Acoustic 370) then does it even have any purpose? Or would the amp be doing the job of the Fdeck and make it redundant?

On compression, I've been loving the cheap Joyo comp to level out my flubby playing, make individual notes more distinct and increase sustain.... generally don't use it to boost. I don't NEED to upgrade there, but its the first comp I've ever used... has anyone else upgraded from the cheap Joyo comp to something else and felt/heard a worthwhile improvement? Or was it fairly negligible?

Glad to hear someone like the Joyo comp, I was debating one for guitar/steel so I assume if it handles bass it'll cover anything.

To my knowledge if the Fdeck is in your chain it removes everything below a user defined frequency. The amp doesn't add frequency it boosts what it's given.

I run mine at the end of my chain but will be playing with it in my effects loop now that I have an amp with one.

Also, I had a Smoothie compressor. It was cool, packed with great features and it sounded great. I ditched it because I have enough compression going on with stacked drives and it had issue with certain big muff pedals. I traded it for a Big Game Bedlam drive and $40. I lost a bit on its value but the bedlam is one of the best ODs I've ever heard.

Hey guys, been lurking here since the beginning of the year, posting only a couple random things, but since I recently got my Dually, I figured now was a good time for an introduction and rig pic! Apologies for the poor quality photo.

That's a Trace Elliot V4 220w Tube into a JHawk-made DuallyT on the left. I have my backup GK 800RB and my Sunn Solos II for guitar on the right (The Sunn is unreal btw, solid state and it's completely insane how loud it is. Can compete with my bass rig pretty easily.) Been considering looking for a classic P-Bass to replace my ESP LTD F-415. Not totally sold on the active pickups for a good stoner sound, I've just been backing off the volume on the guitar down to somewhere between 3-5 to dampen how hot these EMG 40DC's are. While the natural distortion of my amp/cab is pretty out of control, It's actually been somewhat difficult for me to get a loud mostly clean sound out of my rig since I've gotten the DuallyT, but I'm still playing with it. Any active pup users out there with any advice? Would be interested to see to what degree people are using the guitar's active EQ, if any.

Also, if anybody has any input on what to look when shopping around for a P-Bass, I'd love to hear it. Been looking for awhile but there's so many out there it's hard to narrow it down.

Anyway, my name's Taber, I'm up in Bellingham WA (aka hippie central), and I'm 23. If anybody knows like-minded musicians up here, send them my way! Been having a hard time meeting cool people up here for S/D music. About to begin looking for a drummer to start building a band with, but we all know how that goes.
