Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've been looking around for a guitar head for my girlfriend the past couple weeks for her birthday, she recently met a female drummer she wants to jam with and she only has a 15 watt crate combo, I have a 4x12 loaded with Randall jaguars which are not to great but their better than my first rig, I wanted to get her this peavey musician I found for 200 but her dad want s to get her something new because he doesn't believe vintage gear hold up today lol, so I agreed to find some newer around the price range 300-400 and I've stumble upon this...

The laney iron heart 60 watt'er, looks pretty bad ass and has good reviews, I figured 400 a good deal but I might try to haggle a little.

Shes becoming a pretty decent guitar player, I taught her a few saint Vitus,black sabbath, and pentagram riffs when she first started out about a year ago, now she takes guitar lessons from a local teacher who's also really into hard rock and actually started listening to pentagram after my girlfriend showed it to him. Now she probably can play more covers than I can.

She currently uses a esp viper 100 and I let her mess around with my pedals when their at the apartment.

I'm hoping getting a rig will give her the spark like I did when I got my first rig and started my first band.

To B or not to B?

Still haven't decided to make my nice new (to me) Peavey T-40 BEAD or not. On the one hand I really want to use it as my main bass and my one band just now plays in B (sometimes dropping that to A) but we haven't been playing much recently as one of the guys is super busy with other stuff. So maybe I'll end up finding a new band and playing in standard again...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Well it's official, our new album will be available June 12th. I'm really excited about this one.

True, I guess my Distorted patch is louder than I think, but the change over is so seamless and I don't feel the need to turn it down so as to not annoy the neighbors. One day I'll actually check it with a meter but like I said earlier, it's seamless and mildly out of control.

Played with HOF last night. sold out show. Don't even know where to start.

HOF was awesome, they did 3 nights in Chicago, it was a fly-in for them. They were using all Dictator Cabs/Amps (plus an old Marshall and SVT)

Jeff's tone was awesome, that brimstone crossover distortion he uses, sounds super gnarly. Got to gear nerd with him for awhile, super nice guy. He was stoked about my EGC and cabs, asked if he could play through my rig some after we sound checked, so that was pretty cool.

Show went well, we didn't have much merch left after MDF last week, but still had some stuff to sell.

Talked to one of the dudes who owns/runs Dictator Audio, super nice guy, definitely has put a lot more thought into their new bass cabs over the old emperor stuff. They look really nice up close, and sounded pretty good from what I heard.
