swspiers, I know you!
I have to tread lightly, actually. Apparently if I get banned again, it's permanent.I don't even know who got banned from here that would have caused that. Maybe Satori, but he gets banned pretty regularly and it's always just a temporary thing. I know there was some trolling of the P&W thread....
Anyone using a Darkglass Microtubes B3k?. Ive got a Bass Soulfood that seems to be all I need other than my Aguilar Fuzzistor and Im getting along just fine. The cost of the B3k is friggin' stupid and if Im gonna spend that kind of money I can think of many more trinkets to buy but I honestly dont need anything else. Ive seen some reviews and it sounds great but am I really missing something like this ?.Is it safe to come in here?.Anyone using a Darkglass Microtubes B3k?. I'm just waiting to find the right preamp to use the 400 as a slave. After much play, I still find the preamp section to be missing something. It sounds great just not exactly what I'd like. I'd love to find a preamp pedal that could get me where I'd like to go and run that into the effects return.
I am getting ready to order a kit for a GK 400RB preamp pedal with a DI, effects loop and other bells and whistles. The more sterile GK tone with Hi/low mid knobs with a 400w tube power section behind it might get me where I want to go.
Hay, homies. Little brush with fame on the return trip from Nepal: shared a plane and a nice chat with the dudes from Death. My wife and I both thought they were a reggae band, lol. Then, we get on the plane, and I see the back of the guy's jacket and go "Wait a minute! You guys are Death??" Loudly. In a loading airplane. In Abu Dhabi.
Hanged himself according to the BBC.

Definitely gotta go with the former. Similar situation happened to me. Now the drummer and I are taking a break till life clears up a little bit(bought a house and baby on the way) before recording again.
For me since I had a guitar already, I would sometimes use it at practice or when writing. But I prefer the string spacing on my bass. I've toyed with the idea of a bass VI since you can use the strangle switch to get clarity with chords, but have yet to really vet it out.
Also most pitch shifters can transpose chords up more effectively(IMO) than down. I tend to notice that lower chords become glichy quick, but it can be a cool quirk.
Also check out the band High Kicks. The guy doesn't, or at least didn't, use an octave.
Btw love the freedom we get for song writing, shows, and jams, it's almost like an advantage over larger bands.
It's been about 3 years brother!
I gotta question, my band is... for the uuumpfth time.... Close to Splitting with our guitar Player.
IF that will happen, I'm gonna take over the only string.instrumentalist.Position.
What would you do in that case (me, + vocalist + Drummer)?
- try to emulate a guitar with octave up, maybe a delay, bi-amping... yaddayadda royal blood deaht from above 1979?
- grab a geetar (telecaster most likely) and try to emulate bass with octave down, bi-amping?
Parallel signal up with an octaver, tons of distortion, and your effects, but with no bass. Then lay down a crushing bass tone underneath it, with out stepping on your own toes.
You know, they way its supposed to work with guitar and bass.
yeah, but use a harmonizer or sth like that, I don't much like chords on bass so it would be cool to add a 5th to the octave-up tone.
Would you Bi-Amp or just blend both signals with a Boss LS-2 or similar and send to one amp? I could use a geetar preamp pedal to make the oct up singal Sound more geetar-like
What, you miss the snow? The black ice? The potholes? they are all alive and well. It's been about 3 years brother!
I see you're still in the Land of Cleve. I'm still hoping to move back to the area in then next year or so. I think Corey's in your neck of the woods, too!
Justo out of curiostiy, do you know how many times you've gotten the ban-hammer?I have to tread lightly, actually. Apparently if I get banned again, it's permanent.
And yeah, there were a number of frustrations that caused people to leave. I think for some, the mods coming in and handing out bans and so forth (when the reports were by people who followed members into this thread all creeper style) was just the last straw.

Total Darkglass convert here. I heard the B3k a couple of years ago and I loved it, but I couldn't justify spending that much on a dirt pedal.
Fast fwd to last fall, and my svt crapped out. I never really liked it and I started looking around for something I liked more (and that could freaking carry myself).
I ended up getting the DG microtubes head, which has the B3k and vmt built in. I love it very much. It's super flexible and has a footswitch for clean/dirty. Perfect for flipping between swooshy and grind lol.
This is our new EP. I used a Mexican jazz straight into the microtubes - all the dirt you hear is the head on the b3k setting.
Plus I can carry my own amp now. My head went from 85 pounds to 6![]()
