Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

A couple of days ago I got the master of the upcoming debut album of my band and surprisingly our guitar player made a funny video for one song.
It's called "Despising what you see", I recorded my part with a Rickenbacker 4003 straight in DI and looped in a Sansamp BassDriver. The fun fact is I never played bass guitar before for more than an hour so I had almost no idea what I was doing.
I also sing so it took some practice to get it both done on gigs.

It's some kind of stoner, definitely not doom...way too fast ;)

Pretty decent actually especially if that's all the experience you've had so far on bass. Might I suggest more distortion/fuzz/OD though? The spacey bridge is begging for some fuzzy warmth and the heavier parts will be heavier sounding.

Maybe I'm a paranoid weirdo but I always suspect that sometimes when you drop a cool piece of gear like that for maintenance and they keep saying its not done yet for outrageous amounts of time the techs are using it for their own personal recordings or just playing it for fun. Or I'm just nuts.

Jesus H mootherfookin Christ. I got the amp home yesterday and it was DOA, powered up but zero output. 1st World Problems Angry. Opened it up to see if something came loose, no dice. Oooh lookie at all these fancy new caps!!!

Dragged it back to dude this morning, he does something to it for a few hours. I just got back from picking it up and all is good, fuggin' finally.

Would not do business with again.

And we're back to zero output again.

Simple 'cap job' turns into a total schitt show.

I don't get this guy, he gets all these glowing reviews on yelp/bookface, appears to be legit, yet can't figure out a solid state amp after doing a cap job....? I told him it's no bueno again, so we'll see what his response is.

Thanks, the recording is finalized so it will stay as it is. But for live I crank up my Peavey Tour's gain and EQ and the tone becomes nicely overdriven and dynamic. I also plan to get a Fuzzrocious Deamon pedal for the most fuzzy parts and put it in front of the Tour's preamp which will be set on less gain but with louder post gain. Should be a killer sound.

I dig it, kind of desert rocky like kyuss or something. Got a solid rocking bass tone, not everyones gotta be fuzzed out.

Its cool listening to alot of the dudes bands in this thread. Theres a ton of variation between everyone and everyones bands are pretty solid. Just goes to show how broad these genres are. Cant wait to get the new stuff weve been working on with the new guitarist out.

I would be posting stuff, but the guy in another state I was working with flipped out on me for some weak-ass'd reason and took all our songs off Youtube. I still have everything we worked on/half-worked on, I'm tempted to post it myself but at this point I'm still bummed about it. It had potential and the guy just shuts it down. Get your mental health affairs in order, kids.
