I actually bought an overdrive recently thinking that I would use it as an alternative but it didnt give me the level of dirt I need. I may have to wander out of my comfort zone and tweak my eq a bit. Its possible I run my mids a bit too high. Just like me, a bit too high

Darkglass alpha/omega maybe. I've got one and it covers a wide range. Kind of pricey but a smaller version is supposed to be announced in September which should be less expensive.

A friend had recommended a Tech 21 Sans Amp DI as well. Did a bit of research and found that the pro's and con's are almost even. Thanks for the Darkglass tip.

Bah! I have flatwounds on my 5 string mtd. Went to throw on a set of regular DRs and the B string does not fit in the bridge - there are some extra wraps at the ball end and it's just too thick.
Ordered a 5 string set of mtd strings - I'm assuming those will fit.
Not even really heavy strings - .130

When I decided to string my 4 string BEAD, I took a drill to the bridge to open it up. I didn't remove the bridge, or even the saddles, I jsut very carefully drilled it out.

Go slow, go carefully, increasing bit diameter 'til it fits, and try to keep the metal flakes from infesting your pickups (I just masking-taped paper down around them and "cleaned up" carefully).

I haven't owned a lot of tech 21 stuff but I did own a VT bass di. It was good - but no substitute for a real svt. I guess I sold it so it couldn't have been that good.

This one's a 5 string in standard, in theory I shouldn't have to drill.

I bought something today that I never thought I would find or own, didnt even have GAS for one. Within the first 10 minutes of playing this 325 watt monster I stood back to collect myself, it was like I had been through a traumatic experience. On half volume it was rolling out waves of violent tone and thunderous pounding, shook the out of my houses foundation. Makes my 1977 Yamaha B100 and 1999 Peavey Mark 3 heads sound like entry level competition. Damn!

They're pretty awesome amps. I have a Monoblock II that I like a lot. The whole thing is a heat sink and feels nuclear proof. I thought they were only 250ish watts....

I saw an identical one listed on Reverb that listed it as 325 watts. Doesnt even state that anywhere on the amp. Sure makes my 150 watt Peavey sound like a practice amp though.

Might get one to start a second pedalboard with. Or for messing around on guitar.

So I might have not gotten any of the things people suggested for fuzz... A combination of some unexpected bills and what I could find on Reverb meant choice was a little slimmer than I hoped. I could have waited a while, but I'm not the patient type.

Went for the Dwarfcraft Necromancer, £150 all in. This thing is pretty damn savage, there's an insane amount of bass in the eq and it can get very harsh- almost HM-2 ish. Kinda wish the mid cut was on a footswitch, but that's minor gripes. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm sure this isn't the last fuzz I buy.
