Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

while I adore Sunn, and own several, be aware that the Beta Bass doesn't have a ton of low end. It's GREAT if you're really mid focused, or are running a dual head set up and can cover the low end that way, but as a lone head I've always found them the disappointment of the Sunn line!

Pretty much this. I have to dime the bass on mine to get anything respectable out of it.

I wonder how much less I am going to pay the repair guy for the cap job. It's been almost 2 months now.

its been getting alot of attention on our facebook threads.
Not on those, I ended up seeing that Way Huge made their own version Russian Pickle and just ordered that after A/Bing some clips. What was the consensus on the FB group for our kind of music was the EHX or the Russian Pickle better? The EHX seemed a touch brighter and the Way Huge a touch lower/darker to me on the videos I saw.

I have a question that may have been asked here before but chances are good that I missed it. My 4 string is tuned to C and I use an Aguilar Fuzzistor pedal and that is all. Although Im playing Doom I also have sections where I play the bottom two strings in melodic fashion and at times I finger tap. My dilemna is that I am losing crisp clean clarity when Im playing in this fashion. My Fuzzistor has a blend option that ties everything together really nicely but I lose the gentle touch when I need it. Is there another pedal I can use to govern this monster?. Its like trying to go from Primitive Man to Primus and back without sacrificing tone.

Thought about switching to an overdrive?

For the purpose of pushing a tube amp to OD sooner, any reason to spend more $$$ on a clean boost than what an MXR Micro Amp or EHX LPB-1 will cost used? If so, which ones are worth a look and why?

I have been thinking about picking up a DOD 410 for this reason. The selectable buffer and tone control seem like useful tools as well.
