Not in my band's mix. It's actually improved it for everyone. It was a bit of a volume war before with me stepping on the guitar's midrange and both of us fighting to be heard. Now they're happy and I'm happy.

Oddly, I'm using a Jazz with both pickups wide open and the tone backed off a bit. I fought that for awhile because I don't actually like the scooped sound and when playing on my own I want more mids, but in the mix it sounds great and I can hear myself just fine.

I make no promises about other people's mix. I'm up against guitarists using an Orange TH30 and an Electra Dyne. I make the Electra Dyne add mids and cut bass and the Orange guy can do whatever he wants since he's bright enough that it's not an issue for me or the Electra Dyne guy.

I know this has been discussed recently, but I'm kind of in the market for a wah pedal, I've used a Crybaby Bass (the white one) and it wasn't bad. They make a mini version I'm looking at, I kind of like keeping it small.

Someone here has praised the Morley Dual Bass, which is what I was looking at. Then i came across a used Gig-FX Subwah, which has a noticable gap between dis- and activation. I don't like it.

I've been looking for either a used Ibanez Weeping Demon or a Morley Dual to show up in my general area.

Those are gargantuan mofos. I try not to use a lot of pedals and shy away from huge enclosures with 99 knobs, so I might just go for that mini Crybaby as it was alright to my ears.

Another question for anybody that is still around on this thread.......if you've had a full cap job done lately, what did it cost you, tube or solid state? My Beta Bass is getting one and I think the tech is ripping me off, let alone the guy is 2 weeks behind on his original delivery estimate.

I still use my cry baby bass wah. Love the sound, guitars even sound better than the normal cry baby through it. I think mine is an older version though, it still has the foot switch and doesn't have any knobs to adjust volume, etc. I love getting cocked wah tones out of it, but there's a noticeable volume drop. If it didn't have that I'd never think about another wah.

I've heard good things about the xotic wah, but never heard it in person. Seems a little smaller and looks like it could work well with bass.

I think the problem is that the Beta Bass has a lot of capacitors, so maybe the quoted price is high because of the labor involved. But 6 weeks later, it's still not done, he originally said 2-3 weeks tops.

Meh.

That's rough...I mean if something crazy like a death in the family happened, that's understandable. But that's pretty bad at double his "max" turnaround time.

I wonder how much it'd cost to recap this haha. Luckily it doesn't need it.

He even made me a custom fuzz based on a Big Muff (none of his regular models are), which I had to wait for a while to get, but sounds amazing now that I have it.

I use the Morley Dual Bass Wah. It's pretty decent.

I use the Morley. It's good and simple. Has two modes, of which I mostly use the regular one. The only other control is a volume knob.

I'm having my tech cram a Power Wah circuit into the old Morley Pro Flanger that I got a while back, though. So I might start using that soon, instead.



Went to Psycho Las Vegas last weekend, and it was exhausting. But great.

If it's the same power section as the 700 watt Wounded Paw be warned it's not very loud. A 500 watt GK micro is MUCH louder than my Wounded Paw. And while I adore Sunn, and own several, be aware that the Beta Bass doesn't have a ton of low end. It's GREAT if you're really mid focused, or are running a dual head set up and can cover the low end that way, but as a lone head I've always found them the disappointment of the Sunn line!
