that doesnt make you get lost in the mix? Any mid scooping ive done, even while playing a mid heavy stingray seems to bury me.
Not in my band's mix. It's actually improved it for everyone. It was a bit of a volume war before with me stepping on the guitar's midrange and both of us fighting to be heard. Now they're happy and I'm happy.
Oddly, I'm using a Jazz with both pickups wide open and the tone backed off a bit. I fought that for awhile because I don't actually like the scooped sound and when playing on my own I want more mids, but in the mix it sounds great and I can hear myself just fine.
I make no promises about other people's mix. I'm up against guitarists using an Orange TH30 and an Electra Dyne. I make the Electra Dyne add mids and cut bass and the Orange guy can do whatever he wants since he's bright enough that it's not an issue for me or the Electra Dyne guy.
