Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yeah.. This thread used to put on 3 pages of comments by breakfast and it was the livliest, most hilarious, most friendly and fun thread on the site. Then.. some over zealous mods started handing out bans left and right after complaints from the P&W crowd. To be fair, it was because we bent the TB rules in this thread, but we could because we could bust each others balls, talk politics, religion, tube vs. solid state, tell Class D to suck it, and even talk about "tone woods" and we all stayed friends and noone got butthurt... except a few P&W members who popped in and at least one mod (lol). and so... since talkbass ruined the party we all migrated to facebook, and this thread progresses a page a week now if that. Most of us let our memberships lapse and are on here very little anymore. There are new members, but its golden era is done. I only returned because I wanted an intelligent venue to sell some gear to people who are in the know about that gear.

Funny thing is, this site stays up due to supporting memberships, and advertising dollars attributed to page viewership. This thread is the longest in TB history, meaning it has by far the most traffic. Kind of ironic that stirring the pot here on the rules eliminated so much of that revenue for the site.

Well, at the moment there are 337 people online but the homepage also shows 1400+ folks total between guests and members.. Im not sure whats that number represents if only 337 are online, but either way, its decent traffic, but nothing stellar. I wonder what kind of traffic decrease the site has seen since then.

We used to move this thread almost 1,000 posts some days. That is a LOT of traffic for one thread.

Yeah this thread used to be the best part of the internet. No offense to the new folks and those remaining from the "old days". I'm grateful to y'all for keeping the light on. But I mean, you came here for relationship / career advice and condolences when your friends / family / pets passed away. All in a haze of thick heavy riffage.
Definitely.
