I've tried this in the past and didn't get results I really liked.

I have one of these but its been off the board for a long time because of how much tone it sucks. I might try to mod it with a bypass, but I'm not sure it'll be worth the effort vs just getting a loop switcher. I need to spend some more time modding the thing too, adjusting the LED's inside, playing with the inductor and the size of the slit thing, I found a bunch of guitar players like these things a lot because of how easy they are to mod.

But, just try an experiment. Move some cables around. Use the VT to just provide some "tube overdrive" grit, set the Aftershock for whatever they call their Muff emulation, and stick the Wah in the middle.

OD into Wah sounds good, right? Real dramatic. OD into Muff soudns good, right? Really makes it come alive. Wah into Muff is kinda underwhelming, it's not that real dramatic swoosh of the dirt before wah.

Now, all three. Bam. Super f'ing sweepy dramatic sounds: total screeching Cliff Burton screams at one end; low, thick Electric Funeral whoomps at the other, and with no wah at all, that muff has still got that extra heavy crush behind it.

It is a very specific sound. I really dont use it very much and its only in the noisy parts with lots of oscillation going on.

I've had similar thoughts with many bands/music but after years of playing classical and jazz as a kid I learned to always give it a second go. I'm thankful that I learned that early on.

All this talk of the 250 reminds me how the damn thing is so versatile. So much gain on tap, gonna mess with mine when I get home.

Watching lots of demo videos on wahs and other pedals. Wth is the obsession with pinch harmonics? Is it just Jaco-ism or what? Theres always some shuffly bass line punctuated all over the place with pinch harmonics. It is almost as bad as the slaptastic demos.

First my humble ode to Jaco in C#, followed by my worst attempt at the intro to 'Around the World' by the Chilli Pepps. Love me some Chilli Pepps. Then 5 minutes of hardcore slapping. Enjoy!"

I respect the skill, but Jaco sounds like elevator music to me. And yes, I do like some jazz fusion (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Electric Miles, etc)

I use pinch harmonics quite often, but in a punk, anti-virtuoso, stabbing way :laugh::cigar:
