Cool, would love to hear your thoughts on the Centaur on bass. I've heard some good demos online.

Well, I have a Super Fuzz kit ordered from GGG. I went with theirs since they have a tone knob version. The OG pedal had a 2 position switch - really open or really scooped. This will let me have those as well as everything in between.

I toyed with doing a stripboard build, as I've never done one, but my diy electronics skills are super rusty and I'm not sure there are any other pedals I really want to make that would make sourcing parts 'worth it' to me.

As it is, it is only$60 for a clone kit of a vintage pedal going for $400-$750. :bassist:

Tho knowing me, I might get addicted to building stuff again and go crazy with fuzz pedals.

Primitive man was good for what it was, the bass player had technical difficulties through the whole set.
First his amp, then some pedals and some cable swaps. I think he couldn’t nail down what was causing it.
The guitar and drums were awesome though. Definitely need to see them again.
I don’t mind the slow, noise as long as it’s interesting.

Alright, need some advice. I really can't part with my Tyler JT-100 [100w Marshall Super Bass clone w/ master vol]. However, it gets a little lost in the mix. My GK 800RB is punchy and loud, but I dig the tube distortion and the sound of fuzz thru the JT-100.

Thankfully my deluxe bass big muff can do double duty as an aby box. It has a buffered clean output i could run to the GK, which is running thru a big GK neo 4x12. In addition the biamping inherent in the design of the 800RB would allow my to use it easily as the BOOM, leaving the JT to bring the DOOM.

I have an old SWR workingmans 4x10 sitting in the basement covered in cat fur that I could at least drag over to the practice room to give this all a go. But ideally, if it works to my satisfaction, I'd probably want a new cab for the JT. the JT will be running effectively in Lemmy mode - all mids, brights with the fuzz and modulation. GK will essentially be providing no highs just punch and low end.

So the question is, do I get a bass cab for the JT or a guitar cab - 4x12, 2x12?

Hmmm. I guess it depends on how high your splitting the signal at. My first impression is a guitar cab, with not too much speaker area so as not to overpower the lows. From what I can recall from building a fearful 15.6.1 several years ago, it's crossed over at 800hz(?). That means one 6" pro audio speaker is keeping up with a fairly monstrous 15". But it depends on the speakers. Can you borrow any guitar cabs to try? Edit: I just realized the tube head will be full range. Definately bass cab, then.

My guitar player has a jcm800 Marshall 4x12.
My bass 4x12 is misleading. Its rather big, 6x10 size, and spl-wise, on par with a 8x10.

My thought is that a 100 watt tube head & 4x10 cab may be like adding another guitar for the lows to compete against. Of course, it might sound great. Try it.

Edit: I just realized the tube head will be full range. Definately bass cab, then.
