Sweet holy goat the new Inter Arma is ripping! Sounds like a lost track from Morbid Angel's "Domination".
Yeah, I heard it last night, a lot more deathy than I can remember them ever being.
The newest track from the upcoming Candlemass record has me super excited for the album.
What I dig about them was their versatility. They didn't stick to just one musical format. Sometimes I get burnt on an album because there are no dynamics. It is one song and one sound all the way through. Cathedral mixed it up.

Candlemass is simply one of the best in that style, period. Love them!
Some vary a lot in overall style from one album to another. I like the '93-'98 period best, mostly The Ethereal Mirror and Cranival Biazarre. Suggest checking out a playlist of their stuff, or random YT vids, find songs you like and start with those albums.
Here's a cross-section. And they have a lot of much slower, darker sludgy doom across their albums too. Best do some stretching before listening to these.
They are definitely at the top of that particular branch of doom. Psalms for the Dead is my favorite, just because I like the vocals the most.

Ethereal Mirror and Carnival Bizarre are great. I also like The Garden of Eternal Delights, and their swan song, The Last Spire.
All of their other albums hit difference aspects of what they were doing. Some are sort of retro and proggy, like The Guessing Game, and others are just straight up rock like Endtyme.
Well my attempt at a stripboard build failed. Lights up, but nothing in the sound department.
I did manage to build a russian (black russian 90s) muff clone via a kit from BYOC. I prefer it to my bass deluxe muff.
After a few weeks of having the superfuzz clone, I must say I'm still digging it. It's not my go to all rounder like the muff is. But when I want nasty nasty, it's there. Still would like a Rat to add to the board just for the hell of it more than anything else.
I've been playing around amp-wise too. O've given a go on all 3 that I own, the gk 800rb, the Tyler (superbass), and also I dug out my Trace Elliot RAH300-12. The Trace has a lot of bells and whistles, graphic EQ, compressor, etc. I think it does the deep lows better than the other two. The lows arw tighter even with the fuzzes
It also has this addable harmonic content knob that works beautifully with the muff. Jeez, one of these days I just gotta shed 2 of the 3 and stick with one.

I didn't really like the sound of the pickup in the neck position, so I wound up moving it to the bridge and liked it a lot more. I didn't quite care for how it looked either so I changed it up a bit. I'm going to make a thumb rest for it tomorrow at work since I'm all caught up and don't have much to do.
Oh, I've mentioned it elsewhere but the reason it's so beat up is because it was someones beater, then it was hit by a car while hanging in a pawnshop window. I did put those screws in all the deep holes it had though.

Spent some time re-tooling my board to fix unwanted noise issues. Turns out a DI that was hooked into a turned-off PA was causing all sorts of noise. Took out the XLR, and back to almost perfect silence. Worth it. Thought I was going to finally have to buy an isolated power supply...
The GK just got the sound you want, or just all around better?
I felt the same way, and never wanted to spend the cash in the first place...but I admit I never worry about noise or anything power related since.

Noise, plus a newfound love for a dying rat and the cost of isolated power supplies had me looking at DIY.
I have enough pedals that I’d need 2 isolated supplies, though. That’s way more than I want to spend.
