I'm on a group buy for basically a Distortion + with variable clipping....the guy doing it may know a thing or two, or hook you up.

That or the previous model EB, 2012/13 IIRC. Great looking offset body and split coil ability would be awesome. Can't remember if it's bolt on though...
Didn’t see a way to get in on the group buy. Interested, though, as I’ve always liked the DOD 250 and the Distortion + is nearly identical. Maybe it will have that special something that would make it a keeper for me.
I use this to get some great dark sounds with the Variac control. Variac lets you control the voltage to emulate a nearly dead battery at 5V or let it rip at 15V.
Funnily enough I just got an RD and the neck on it is a fcukin 2x4, but there's no way I'm chopping that thing up (set neck).

Today I felt a little better with the flu so I said "Why not building another kit?"

This time I managed to damage the PCB too.
This is the third build gone wrong for some reason
Now I have two kits left. If I can't successfully and flawlessly finish either, I think I'll sell everything and give up with this stuff. Very disheartening.

My first build taught me the value of patience and double (and sometimes triple) checking my work. For my second build, I only let myself put 2 or 3 components on before double checking my solder joints, connectivity, etc. That way, I only had a few points of possible failure instead of getting everything done and then trying to hunt down any issues after the fact, when there are waaay too many things to troubleshoot. As always, YMMV

I've been really stupid. This pedal had three board-mounted pots, BUT I didn't know pots come in different resistance values. I know, it's an utterly stupid error. I figured out the pots were different from each other only after I soldered the first one, obviously in the wrong place

I should've been more clear, sorry. That group thing is pretty much closed now, but Dr. Tony Balls is a cool guy and would probably be open to building whatever you wanted. He makes some really nice amps too.
That Variac Fuzz up there looks pretty interesting.
I came really close to buying one of his amps last year off Reverb. Good to know hes a solid chap.

What's your desoldering set up? I had old, oxidized desolder braid that was really frustrating. Cleaning the braid, using liquid rosin flux and (as always) a well cleaned and tinned tip made a huge difference.
I'm really curious about this. The bassist from one of my favorite bands uses a few BALLS pedals, Sannhet (NYC). I think is tone is rad! I believe he has a rat clone (that has a knob that changes the circuits to sound like different versions of rats) and a reverb.
Desoldering braid and desoldering pump... I have not problem with removing solder from the surface but I still haven't found a way to free the holes... I also had bent the pot connection to have a mechanical joint as well, which made nearly impossible (with my skill
) to remove all the solder...
