Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I recorded last night's practice on my phone, does that count? Id post a track but its probably the first time we got through one of the tunes and there's mistakes all over it. And no vocals, since we are just starting to look for pa gear.
Though I find it is a great tool to listen to a song you are writing - I was pretty chuffed with the song I wrote, mistakes in the runthrough and all.

Yeah they are one of my favorites. heavy, doomy, proggy, jazzy and original without sounding forced or contrived.
i really like this album. more laid back but it really is awesome.
check out The Hedvig Mollestad Trio too. Similar kind of band. they don't seem to allow their albums on youtube but there are some. you can stream full albums on platforms like spotify. The live album, Evil in Oslo is great.

And finally, I don't even know where to start with Against Nature...the Zappa and Mother's of Invention of doom. I guess this is as good as any but each album has a very distinct flavour. You need to try them all.

We were recently talking about how stoner/doom has become a bland cookie cutter scene but there are bands that don't identify as stoner/doom that are doing it way better than those that do. The fan base has no interest though and they are missing out

Same here. Really digging bushmans revenge. Just bought 2 of their albums on amazon. I’m Deep cleaning the kitchen today and this is cranked. Fricken fantastic.

I was listening to Morphine while cleaning yesterday and also thinking about how much untapped potential exists. Of course, I understand and accept any commonality may only exist in my profoundly dysthymic mind.
